ICL’s Wilderness Steward Program
This April, Idaho Conservation League is calling for volunteers to apply to become a Wilderness Steward for summer 2025. Wilderness Stewards play a pivotal role in preserving, protecting, and enhancing the Wilderness areas surrounding the Wood River Valley. From June to September, these volunteers go on self-guided hikes in our regional Wilderness (Cecil D. Andrus-White Clouds Wilderness, Craters of the Moon National Monument, Hemingway-Boulders Wilderness, Jim McClure-Jerry Peak Wilderness, Sawtooth Wilderness, and recommended Wilderness in the Sawtooth and Salmon-Challis National Forests) during which they pick up trash, break down illegal fire rings, speak to trail users about Leave No Trace and Wilderness Regulations, and collect data for the U.S. Forest Service and the National Parks Service. Recreate with purpose and help keep our Wilderness wild! Apply by May 2nd to become a Wilderness Steward this summer.
