Blaine County Recreation District (BCRD) is excited to announce this year’s Bike to School and Work Day, scheduled for Wednesday, May 20. This free community event will take place along the Wood River Trail from 6:30 to 9:00 a.m., featuring more than 30 local sponsors offering snacks, bike checks, and other activities for participants.
This event highlights bicycles as both a mode of transportation and a form of recreation, encouraging people to ride to school, work, or other destinations in a healthy and active way. Participants can connect with local nonprofits and businesses while experiencing the community spirit found along the Wood River Trail.
Additionally, from May 20 through May 26, Blaine County Recreation District, Hailey Public Library, and The Community Library will present StoryWalk® along the Wood River Trail. This family-friendly experience brings together time outdoors and reading, with children’s books displayed page by page to enjoy while walking or biking. This year’s featured titles are Elena Rides by Juana Medina, located between Fox Acres Road and Myrtle Street in Hailey, and Ride Beside Me by Lucy Knisley, located between 6th Street and Wood River Drive in Ketchum. Both stories feature engaging illustrations and will be presented bilingually, inviting readers of all ages to follow along as they explore the trail.
