Holiday Spirt with Music & Dance
Footlight Dance and Sun Valley Music Festival Music Institute students will be spreading holiday cheer bringing a performance to the WRHS Performing Arts Theater at the Community Campus in Hailey, on Saturday, December 14, 7:00 pm, a free event. This annual collaborative event will have the dancers and musicians performing together! “Both programs are excited to bring the two arts disciplines together to perform for our 2nd year. For the dancers, we usually perform to pre-recorded music as live musicians are an expense we cannot afford to add onto our production costs, and for the musicians they rarely get the opportunity to play for dance. The experience brings challenges and rewards for both as they learn to pay closer attention to details from the conductor in regard to tempo, and the dancers must listen to the subtle differences of the final version from recorded to live.” A highlight of this program will be a solo danced by Footlight Company member, Romina Zavala, who is a Senior in High School. Marcus King faces heartache, addiction, and mental health head-on in his music. Pain quakes below the vibrato of his voice, and his delivery weighs heavy with booze-drenched regrets and mistakes in lonely hotels. The GRAMMY® nominated fourth generation musician from Greenville, SC, started playing guitar at 8-years-old following in the footsteps of his guitarist Father and Grandpa. Logging thousands of miles on the road as “The Marcus King Band,” he established himself with unparalleled performance prowess. Wood River Orchestra Fall Concert
Celebrate Fall with the Wood River Orchestra! On Sunday November 3 the WRO presents a program including an orchestral arrangement of the classic song “Autumn Leaves” and Mendelssohn’s 5th Symphony, the “Reformation”. The concert will be held at the Wood River High School Performing Arts Theater in the Community Campus in Hailey, beginning at 4pm. Admission is free.

Gideon Freudmann Performs Buster Keaton’s ‘Sherlock, Jr.’ with Live Soundtrack Gideon Freudmann performs live soundtracks for classic silent films with his cello and real-time digital effects. His imaginative, original accompaniment breathes new life into this classic art, bringing the best of cinema and live music to another level and to new audiences. Gideon Freudmann is a groundbreaking musician who has helped to redefine the cello. He is classically trained and uses those skills to expand the stylistic and tonal range of the instrument. Gideon’s original scores for silent films incorporate classical, jazz, folk and world music. Working with a cello and an array of pedal effects, he creates elaborate sound textures, catchy melodies and exciting rhythms that beautifully enhance and energize the imagery of silent films.
Morgan James
An Idaho Native, Morgan James is a Juilliard-trained soul singer, songwriter, actress, and recording artist based in New York City. Her debut began on Broadway in The Addams Family, Wonderland, Godspell and Motown: The Musical, and as a guest at Kristin Chenoweth’s For the Girls. Noteworthy albums include 2023’s Nobody’s Fool and Reckless Abandon, which prompted The Huffington Post to call James the “Brightest Breakout Artist of the Year.” Morgan’s newest album, Morgan James, Live at Antone’s, was recently released this August.
