Weed Warrior Day
Be a warrior for a morning – a Weed Warrior that is! Join us, along with the Environmental Resource Center, for a work party to get Howard Preserve in Bellevue ready for the summer! Bring your family and friends (and even your dog!) for a morning of pulling weeds and picking up trash. Garbage bags will be provided, but please bring gloves and a water bottle. No experience is necessary, and no sign-up is required. Light snacks will be available for participants. A few hours of your time will make a big impact and help beautify the preserve for everyone to enjoy!
Boxcar Bend Work Party
Let’s get this party started! Boxcar Bend needs some love and we’re teaming up with Trout Unlimited for the first work party of the summer. Now all we need is YOU! We invite you, your friends and family to help us spruce up Boxcar Bend Preserve, off Highway 75, north of the East Fork light. Tasks include pulling weeds, spreading wood chips on the trail, and picking up trash. Garbage bags will be provided, but please bring gloves and a water bottle. No experience is necessary, and no sign-up is required. Light snacks will be available for participants. Come make a difference and enjoy a morning outdoors! (And maybe jump in the river afterwards…)
The Trailhead Bicycles’ Summer Kick-Off Party
Join us for our third annual Summer Kick-Off Party! We will be hanging out at the BCRD Quigley Bike Park from 4-7pm on Saturday, June 15th! Food will be available to purchase through La Parilla, Woodfired Pizza, and Shaved Ice Sun Valley! We will be providing free beer and drinks! Hop on the “bike bus” departing from the shop at 3:45pm to ride over together! There will be bike-themed games & prizes for: strider races, pump track challenge, keg pull, & bike limbo as well as kid-friendly crafts all afternoon!

Paul Béliveau
Paul Béliveau’s Morandi is inspired by the often pastel-toned works of Italian painter Giorgio Morandi. While Béliveau has treated book spines as subject matter before, in the Morandi series the books themselves, rather than the text that decorates their covers, are treated as the aesthetic quality. Outside reference to author, subject, and image is missing and instead, Béliveau revels in the shape and volume of the books responding and building upon each other as a methodical convergence of color and form.
Matt Duffin: Retrospection
Matt Duffin’s encaustic paintings use primarily black and white tones with selected pops of color to bring attention to his irreverent subjects. Employing simplicity within the imagery allows the painstaking qualities of his methodology to shine. Encaustic works are made using wax to which pigment has been added. The wax is heated, applied to a prepared wood surface, and shaped using special brushes and tools. To achieve this level of detail requires exactitude and skill. Considering the rigorous amount of time it takes to complete each piece, it is no surprise that Duffin’s themes tend to explore nostalgia, solitude and irony.
