24 Hours With Local Amy Mattias

Practically everything that Amy Mattias does, from her job to her hobbies, revolves around locally grown food. The newly appointed Executive Director for the non-profit Sun Valley Institute for Resilience has been with the organization for five years and before that worked for Nourish Me, Lava Lake Lamb, Idaho’s Bounty, the Wood River Sustainability Center, and Kray’s Market. As the ED of the Sun Valley Institute for Resilience, Mattias manages three programs that the institute is the overarching body of: the Impact Idaho Fund, which invests in locally rooted ideas and entrepreneurs; the Local Food Alliance, which raises awareness of the local food system and puts out the Wood River Valley Locally Grown Guide, which lists all the farms, ranchers, restaurants, retail stores, and farmers’ markets that source local food; and 5B Resilient, a program about empowering everyday climate action at the individual and household level. Come join us for an afternoon of fun at Bloom Community Food Center. The Hunger Coalition is hosting our second annual FoodFest! This year’s theme is tacos! Local chef teams will compete to win “best taco” as determined by a panel of judges. Enjoy a flight of tacos and vote for your favorite. The team with the most votes wins the Community Favorite Award. Stay for other fun free activities including: music from DJ Luis, a live art installation, activities from Sun Valley Museum of Art, face painting and more! Buy your tickets online or at the event. Please have your e-receipt available to show at the ticket table. Parking is limited. Please try to carpool, take the bus, or ride your bike. Wood River Valley Climate Action Coalition’s Earth Fest

Earth Fest returns to the valley, for our 4th year, to come together as a community and celebrate the planet we all love to live on.  Get ready to enjoy games, food, raffles and inspiring tips on how Circularity within our homes and community can help us become more sustainable and resilient on our only Class M planet. There will be a 5K road race, music, games, and interactive booths. This year’s theme is “Circularity” with a focus on the importance of reducing, reusing, regenerating, rethinking, or redesigning of our management of all of our natural resources. Schedule: Earth Day 5K: 10:00am Dust off those running shoes!   The annual 5K Road race/walk will begin at 10:00 in the alley behind the Hailey library/City Hall.  All registration is onsite and will open at 9:00 am, Saturday, April 20th.  The run/walk will take you through the neighborhoods south of Croy and west of River/Broadford Road.
