Wagon Days

Since 1958, the City of Ketchum has celebrated its mining history with one of the largest non-motorized parades in the west. Come spend the weekend with the whole family and watch the Big Hitch Parade on Saturday at 1 p.m, featuring quality buggies, carriages, carts and stagecoaches, is one of the largest non-motorized parades in the Pacific Northwest. Don’t forget you can get an up-close view of the gigantic Lewis Ore Wagons on display through our the month of August at the Ore Wagon Museum.  2024 Schedule TBD. Events genelly include the following: Friday Sun Valley Story Tour – 10:15 am  Visit the area’s most historic locales. Jump on the Sun Valley Story Tour bus for a one-hour guided tour past historical sites such as the Horace Lewis home and mining historical sites, the Union Pacific Terminal, Comstock-Clark Mercantile Building, and many more. Location: Tour will depart from the Visitor Center 491 Sun Valley Road, Ketchum. (The Visitor Center is located inside the Starbucks building). Registration will be required. Star Wars: A New Hope

Luke Skywalker begins a journey that will change the galaxy in Star Wars: A New Hope.  Nineteen years after the formation of the Empire, Luke is thrust into the struggle of the Rebel Alliance when he meets Obi-Wan Kenobi, who has lived for years in seclusion on the desert planet of Tatooine.  Obi-Wan begins Luke’s Jedi training as Luke joins him on a daring mission to rescue the beautiful Rebel leader, Princess Leia, from the clutches of Darth Vader and the evil Empire. Earth Day After Dark

The Hailey Public Library, Central Idaho Dark Sky Alliance and Boise State University’s AstroTAC Team are hosting Earth Day After Dark, a free night of observing on Saturday, April 22, from 8:30-11:00ish.  The Team has presented astronomy programs throughout southern Idaho.  Highlights will include the Lyrid Meteor Shower, deep sky objects, bright planets and the last glimpse of winter constellations. Meet at the Croy Canyon Motorized Trailhead, 3.1 miles west of Hailey.  Check the HPL website at www.haileypubliclibrary.org after 5 PM in case of weather-related cancelation.

Mexico en el Corazon

A free event open to the public, México en el Corazón immerses the audience in the colors, artistry, and music of Mexico with Mariachis, folkloric ballet and more. A showcase of traditional Mexican culture, Mexico en el Corazón features more than 50 performers in traditional costumes as part of a North American tour presented by NAIMA, the North American Institute for Mexican Advancement, sponsored by the government of the state of Jalisco, Mexico. With special thanks to Sun Valley Resort, México en el Corazón will visit Sun Valley for the first time in an extravaganza of Mexican folkloric traditions for a magical evening of culture and community.
