Sun Valley Music Festival Winter Season

Sixth winter season spotlights Jon Kimura Parker with all-Brahms programs. The Sun Valley Music Festival presents its sixth Winter Season at the Argyros Performing Arts Center, from March 6 to 9. The 2024 Winter Season focuses on “The Romance of Brahms” and offers two chamber music programs specially curated by Music Director Alasdair Neale, featuring pianist Jon  Kimura Parker — winner of the Gold Medal at the 1984 Leeds International Piano Competition — and string musicians from the all-star Sun Valley Music Festival Orchestra. Presented in an intimate atmosphere, the all-Brahms programs include beloved pieces by the Romantic composer for solo piano and string ensembles, such as Hungarian Dance No. 4 in F Minor, Quintet No. 1 in F Major, Trio No. 1 in B Major, and the inventive and technically demanding Handel Variations. The two unique programs will be performed on alternating evenings: the first on March 6 and 8, the second on March 7 and 9. The concerts will take place at the Argyros Performing Arts Center in Ketchum, starting at 7:00 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.) The concerts are about two hours long, including a 20-minute intermission. Each year SVGA hosts multiple gallery walks (exhibition openings for all SVGA galleries), which are eagerly anticipated and free to the public. Locals and visitors alike take in thought-provoking exhibitions of newly installed art, enjoy wine, mingle with friends, and often meet the artists. Sheep have been trailing through the Wood River Valley of Idaho for well over a century and are an integral part of Idaho’s heritage. Each fall the iconic Trailing of the Sheep Festival honors the 150+ year annual tradition of moving sheep (‘trailing’) from high mountain summer pastures down through the Valley to traditional winter grazing and lambing areas in the south. Sun Valley Wine Auction

A celebration of wine, a benefit for the arts. The 43rd Annual Sun Valley Wine Auction will be held June 26-28, 2024. Founded in 1981, the Sun Valley Wine Auction began as an intimate fundraising event for an emerging arts organization that eventually became the Sun Valley Museum of Art. Consistently ranking in Wine Spectator’s annual Top 10 Charity Wine Auctions, the festival brings together both small and large and always distinguished vintners, celebrity chefs, and wine lovers for a celebration of wine, food, friendship all in support of the arts. Proceeds from the Auction provide significant funding for the Museum’s exhibitions and educational programs. Sun Valley Arts & Crafts Festival

2024 dates are August 9 to 11th. Join us in beautiful Atkinson Park just off Main Street in Ketchum as we welcome 132 professional artists and craftspeople from 27 different states to the Wood River Valley. This Festival is a juried, outdoor, fine arts show that includes world-class artwork in categories such as painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, woodwork, metalwork, jewelry and more. The rigorous jury process used to select artists ensures the residents and visitors to the Festival will see truly exceptional work in all different categories. Sun Valley Writers’ Conference

CELEBRATING OUR 30TH ANNIVERSARY! Thirty years ago, the founders of the Sun Valley Writers’ Conference sat around a kitchen table and dreamt up what would become today’s premier literary conference. The Festival dates for 2024 are July 12, 13 and 14th. Hours for the Festival are 10 – 6 Fri and Sat and 10 – 4 Sunday Ketchum Arts Festival is an annual celebration of Idaho art in the shadow of Sun Valley’s Baldy Mountain. Take a breather from your busy summer schedule and spend some time sampling great food and beer, and perusing the creative output of more than 100 Idaho artists. Sun Valley Music Festival

The Sun Valley Music Festival proudly announces its landmark 40th-anniversary season, from July 29 to August 22, at the Sun Valley Pavilion. Curated by Music Director Alasdair Neale, the 2024 summer season will feature the all-star Festival Orchestra — which comprises the finest musicians from orchestras throughout North America — performing with a stellar lineup of world-renowned guest artists that includes violinist Leonidas Kavakos, pianists Stephen Hough and Garrick Ohlsson, soprano Meechot Marrero, and cellist Jeffrey Zeigler. To celebrate 40 years of free classical music concerts, the 2024 Summer Season includes two world premieres commissioned by the Festival: a cello concerto by the Pulitzer Prize finalist and multi-Grammy-nominated composer Andy Akiho, performed by former Kronos Quartet cellist Jeffrey Zeigler; and a season-opening fanfare by Timothy Higgins, Principal Trombone of the San Francisco Symphony.
