Living in Beauty in Challenging Times with Lupita McClanahan

1768517130

Lupita McClanahan is a Dine’ Elder from Canyon De Chelly in Arizona. She was raised in secrecy by her clan’s medicine people so that she could avoid the boarding schools and keep her culture alive. She is perhaps one of the only indigenous people left in North America who was raised in the traditional way, by traditional elders and still lives on her ancestral land.

After years of seclusion, she was eventually discovered and taken to boarding school. She has used the experience as a way to understand the modern world and to build a bridge between our cultures. Lupita speaks about her life, her relationship with the land, plant medicine, geology, boarding schools, our relationships with one another, and ultimately, how to move forward together.

As a master storyteller, she feels out what needs to be said given the moment and circumstances of her audience.

Registration recommended to join us in person. To watch online (no registration needed), visit (LINK FORTHCOMING). The recording will be available to watch later on The Community Library’s Event Archive.
