Gretchen’s at Sun Valley Resort

At the heart of Sun Valley Lodge, you’ll find delicious all-day dining at Gretchen’s. This Sun Valley staple was named in honor of Gretchen Fraser, who was not only the first American to win an Olympic Gold Medal in skiing, but was also a pillar in the Sun Valley community, supporting the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation, the Wood River Trail System, and the Nature Conservancy of Idaho for many years. Gretchen’s offers three fresh and modern menus. Start your day of adventure with a hearty breakfast, from eggs benedict to veggie hash, or a lite morning bite, including avocado toast or steel-cut oats. Stop in for a midday refresh, with shareables like poke nachos or chips and guacamole or keep it classic with a selection of soups, salads, and sandwiches. Or, settle in for dinner, with stunning centerpiece dishes, like the Chef’s Cut and Fresh Catch special. Whether in the cozy ambiance of the dining room or the fresh air of the summer terrace, Gretchen’s is your go-to place to dine throughout the day.

The Ram Restaurant at Sun Valley Resort

Sun Valley’s original restaurant, The Ram has been warming and welcoming diners since 1937. This rustic-yet-elegant dinner house has been recently modernized, while still preserving its historic charm. Pianist Larry Harshbarger brings a classic ambiance to the room with gentle melodies played on our resident baby grand piano. Travel back in time with the nightly “Heritage Menu”—a series of historic dishes such as pork tenderloin schnitzel, Hungarian goulash, and the famous Ram fondue—resurrected from the restaurant’s long and storied culinary tradition. Nearby, the updated Ram Bar offers an upscale lounge to enjoy specialty cocktails and light fare, with plush couches and a brick patio overlooking the Sun Valley pond.

Sushi on Second

Sushi on Second is “second-to-none” in Ketchum for creating a magical evening of food, friends and fun. Established in 1994, it is the Valley’s oldest sushi restaurant, but don’t let the age fool you. Head Sushi Chef John Rust is at the center of a talented crew of young sushi chefs that delight in creating dishes that are as appetizing to look at as they are to eat, like their famous “Who’s Your Daddy” roll. See why Bon Appétit Magazine wrote “Sushi on Second, the best sushi I’ve had in years.” The menu consists of global cuisine mixed with a healthy dose of Northwest experimentalism that creates a truly unique culinary experience. Chefs John Rust and Ashley Weber are behind their nightly specials, which keep local diners coming back, often twice a week. Be sure to try the sushi, of course, but some of John and Ashley’s current creative dishes include Grilled Alaskan Halibut with a chili lime glaze over curry rice pilaf and a cucumber yogurt salad, Hawaiian-style Baby Back Pork Ribs, Alaskan Sockeye Salmon with a citrus cream sauce over rice with avocado salad, Scallop Ceviche with wonton crisps, Idaho Kobe Beef Carpaccio, Seared Ahi Tuna and Avocado Tartare …
