For the 6th year, the Sun Valley Museum of Art presents the MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival. From September 28 through October 8, this unique festival brings together over 100,000 filmgoers in over 500 cities and towns across 6 continents. The Festival curates a wide variety of films from around the world, and the jury includes ALL film attendees from around the globe, including our Ketchum audience! The Ten MANHATTAN SHORT Finalists hail from eight countries, with films from Australia, Afghanistan, Finland, Iran, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Canada, alongside three films from the USA. The 2023 line-up is linked by a common theme: how we face adversity, whether it is imposed by others or arises from personal circumstances. The ten films in the program feature narratives that are dramatic, sometimes humorous, occasionally magical, and always inspirational! SVFF supports independent film and the magic of storytelling. It’s mission to celebrate and award filmmakers who are established and emerging has earned the Festival accolades by the film industry, film festival goers, film lovers, and filmmakers. The year-round Sun Valley Film Initiative develops professionals and illuminates the process of filmmaking, propelling emerging voices with grants and education. Since 2012 the Sun Valley Film Festival has invited fans and filmmakers to America’s first ski resort to celebrate the magic of storytelling. In the past, Festival guests include Hollywood legends such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Clint Eastwood, Jodie Foster, Geena Davis, and Oliver Stone as well as avant-garde writers and filmmakers like Stephen Gaghan and Mark and Jay Duplass.
