Wood River Extreme Skijoring

Join us February 15 & 16 for Wood River Extreme Skijoring! Produced by the Wood Extreme Ski Joring Association (WRESJA), the event features cowboys with their fast horses racing with brave skiers and snowboarders and promises a weekend of fast-action fun that the whole family will enjoy. Ski Joring is a winter sport in which a person on skis is pulled by a horse, a dog or a motor vehicle. It is derived from the Norwegian word skikjøring, meaning “ski driving”. In the Wood River Valley horses are used. The WRESJA races will take place at 81 Browning Lane in Bellevue on Saturday, February 15 and Sunday, February 16, starting at 12noon each day.  There is an admission fee of $10 per spectator, with children 12 and under free. Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs but dogs are not allowed. This family-friendly weekend event will also feature concessions at the races, a raffle to support a local area non-profit and evening events that include a pre-race party and team check-in on Friday night, 6:00 p.m. at Mahoney’s Bar & Grill and a team auction and party on Saturday night, 6:00 p.m. at Cutthroat Club in Bellevue. Fun, Free Nordic Race for Kids! This cross-country event is open to youth aged 3-13 who may race in skate or classic disciplines. This free community event put on by Papoose Club volunteers in partnership with the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation’s Nordic ski program and the Blaine County Recreation District. The Nordic Cup has been held in the Wood River Valley since 2006. Depending on snow conditions the event is held either in Quigley Canyon in Hailey or Sun Valley Nordic center. VOLUNTEER HERE

Fun, Free Downhill Race for Kids! Started by the original founders back in 1957, this fun ski and snow board event is for non-sanctioned racers ages 3 to 12. It is held at Sun Valley’s Dollar Mountain in the spring, usually in March. The event attracts up to 250 skiers who all earn commemorative pins. The Olympic gold medal winner Picabo Street was a Kindercup champion! Other famous Sun Valley area skiers to have been past Kindercup champions include: Langely McNeal, Graham Watanabe, Wyatt Caldwell and more! ​CHECK IN AND BIB PICK UP: 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. RACERS MUST REGISTER IN ADVANCE! Over those years, we have raised over $1 million for international and local charities/programs, such as Blaine County Search and Rescue, the Community Holiday Baskets Project, the Wood River Rotary Scholarship Fund, and The Hunger Coalition, to name just a few. The 2024 SV Rotary Brewfest is our 10th anniversary and will be held at the Ketchum Town Square on Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 12pm to 5pm. We anticipate over 1,200+ beer lovers from all over the Intermountain West, as the Brewfest is becoming a marquee event in our resort town! We have grown attendance from 500 participants in our first year to more than 1800 participants in 2019. The festival will offer guests the opportunity to sample and learn about more than 200 beverages from more than 35 craft breweries, cideries and RTD’s.
