As one of the world’s most renowned ballet companies, The National Ballet of Canada is internationally recognized for their diverse repertoire, contemporary sensibility, and exceptional talent. Founded in 1951, The National Ballet of Canada has a storied past that includes esteemed artists such as Nureyev and Baryshnikov and a long history of pre-eminent Artistic Directors. In January 2022, the company welcomed Artistic Director Hope Muir. Under her leadership, the company is reaching new heights of success - which includes a return to international touring. From their home base in Toronto, the company recently toured to Sadler’s Wells in London and Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, where their performances were met with rave reviews. For three days this summer, from Saturday, July 19 through Monday, July 21, thousands of people will gather in Sun Valley, Idaho, to celebrate the written word. The 31st annual Sun Valley Writers’ Conference (SVWC) will feature some of today’s biggest and brightest literary stars, including Max Boot, Griffin Dunne, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Colum McCann, Liz Moore, Ruth Reichl, Ocean Vuong, and a feature performance by The Improvised Shakespeare Company, along with many more. This year’s theme, “Words & Wonder,” will focus on the magical power of those singular human elements (words), to transport us through the doors of the unexpected and awe-inspiring (wonder), towards a place of beauty and connection. The Sun Valley Music Festival proudly announces its landmark 41st season, from July 28 to August 21, at the Sun Valley Pavilion. Curated by Music Director Alasdair Neale, the 2025 summer season will feature the all-star Festival Orchestra—the finest musicians from orchestras throughout North America—performing with world-renowned guest artists including pianist Gabriela Martinez, Time for Three, cellist Gautier Capuçon, and pianist Olga Kern. In its 41st season, the Music Festival welcomes back the Grammy-winning and genre-defying group Time for Three. The trio will perform a new concerto written for them by composer Mason Bates and co-commissioned by the Music Festival. Bates describes the work, titled Silicon Hymnal, as “an electro-acoustic book of songs.” Stephanie Childress returns for a third season as Associate Conductor, leading several performances including Haydn’s Symphony No. 80, Schumann’s Symphony No. 4, and Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé Suite No. 2. Major orchestral repertoire also includes Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4, Brahms’s Symphony No. 4, and a season finale featuring Richard Strauss’s suite from Der Rosenkavalier. All concerts are offered free of charge, with ample seating inside the Sun Valley Pavilion and on the lawn, featuring a state-of-the-art big screen and sound system.
