TEEN WORKSHOP: Matisse Today

Learn how Henri Matisse used paper collages and color to make compositions with nonrepresentational and organic forms, and create your own Matisse-inspired artwork. Add brush strokes and squeeze tubes of paint onto paper, making color gradations. On the back of the paper, draw and cut out forms and shapes to make collages of your own interpretation. Family Financial Planning 101

If you want to learn the tools and strategies needed to create a sound financial plan for your family, this free class is for you! Hosted by the Hailey Public Library, the class will teach participants how to develop budget and cash building techniques that create a strong financial foundation. Wood River Valley native Brayden Olson is a licensed financial planner at MadisonPoole in Boise with a keen interest in helping families meet their planning needs. Wanderlust: The Eastern Himalaya – Wildflower Diversity, Conservation & Tibetan Traditional Knowledge

The Hailey Public Library and the Wood River Chapter – Idaho Native Plant Society will co-host “Wanderlust: The Eastern Himalaya – Wildflower Diversity, Conservation & Tibetan Traditional Knowledge” with conservation ecologist Bob Moseley on Thursday, March 21 at 5:30 PM. Retired from a decades-long career with The Nature Conservancy, Moseley will share gorgeous images and discuss an area considered the most floristically diverse temperate ecosystem on earth. He’ll also examine cultural uses and traditions of ethnic groups of the region. Part of HPL’s Wanderlust series, the free talk will be held at Town Center West, 7 W Croy, and live streamed.

Afternoon Art — Ketchum

Play, create, discover, and have fun! Afternoon Art is a free drop-in opportunity for community members of all ages to explore concepts from the Museum’s current exhibition and create works of art. ADULT WORKSHOP: Shibori Scarves

Los Angeles-based artists Tanya Aguiñiga and Natalie M. Godinez of AMBOS will teach various shibori dye techniques. Shibori, a traditional Japanese form of dying, allows makers to create beautiful and intricate patterns on fabric. With guidance from the artists, participants will leave the workshop with a shibori wool scarf of their own design. About AMBOS (Art Made Between Opposite Sides) A femme-led binational artist collaborative that works along the U.S./Mexico border to build migrant support systems through craft, care, and mutual aid to advance pro-migrant narratives. Co-presented by SVMoA and The Alliance of Idaho. Part of SVMoA’s exhibition Intertwined: Weaving in Community.
