WORKSHOP: Botanical Cyanotypes WITH ASHLEY LARSON

Delve into the alternative photography process of cyanotypes and learn about their historical role in botanical illustrations. In this workshop, participants will coat paper with light-sensitive chemicals and choose from an array of natural materials to compose their own work of art. Watch as sun exposure transforms the compositions and brings the cyanotypes life. Each participant will leave with knowledge of the technical aspects of cyanotype creation and their own unique and captivating piece of botanical art. Students are encouraged to bring their own natural objects for making cyanotypes. This workshop will include paper coating during the workshop rather than using pre-coated paper. Each participant will leave with knowledge of the technical aspects of cyanotype creation and their own unique and captivating piece of botanical art. Students are encouraged to bring their own natural objects for making cyanotypes. This workshop will work mostly with pre-coated cyanotype paper. Age & Ability: 12–18; all levels; beginners welcome! Brian Stokes Mitchell

Dubbed “the last leading man” by The New York Times, two-time Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell has enjoyed a career that spans Broadway, television, film, and concert appearances with the country’s finest conductors and orchestras.

He received Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle awards for his star turn in Kiss Me, Kate. He also gave Tony-nominated performances in Man of La Mancha, August Wilson’s King Hedley II, and Ragtime. Other notable Broadway shows include Kiss of the Spider Woman, Jelly’s Last Jam, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown and Shuffle Along. In 2016 he was awarded his second Tony Award, the prestigious Isabelle Stevenson Tony for his Charitable work with The Actors Fund. That same year Stokes was inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame. The Argyros is extremely proud to welcome this iconic American artist to our venue this summer.

What We’re Made Of: Sun Valley Pride

For several years now, Sun Valley Pride has joined the ranks of other meaningful Sun Valley events produced by and for locals, all in the name of providing community. In this case, that community is the LGBTQIA+ community, for which Sun Valley Pride provides a multi-day event full of performers, music, and fun. From what was once a modest singular event to now a full week of both paid and free activities, Sun Valley Pride draws attendees and performers from across the nation. How It Started What is now an entire week of Pride events started as just one: Pride in the Garden, at the nonprofit Sawtooth Botanical Garden (SBG). Executive Director Jen Smith had only been in her role for a few years when she suggested the Garden do a Pride event as a way to raise funds. As she says, they didn’t need to do another golf tournament or poker run like other organizations in the area had done as fundraisers. The board went wild, and the first Pride in the Garden event was held in 2021, which Jen describes as “a social justice event trying to bring awareness to the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies and to …

Paco Versailles

Paco Versailles is a collaboration between guitarist/composer Vahagni and songwriter/producer Ryan Merchant (Capital Cities). Their sound is a mix of flamenco guitar rhythms with disco-leaning electronic production and captivating vocals – a new genre they call Dancemenco. The name “Paco Versailles” was conceived while imagining a collaboration between their biggest influences, the legendary Spanish guitarist Paco De Lucia and French electronic artists Daft Punk and Air, both products of the Parisian suburb of Versailles.
