Kick off your summer by visiting your local history museums. All of the historical museums in the Wood River Valley will be open on Saturday, May 30 to celebrate Museums Day. All four museums will be open from 10am – 6pm and encourage the public to come to one, two, three, or all four historical museums in the valley on one day! All Museums are free to enter.
Participating museums are the Bellevue History Museum, Blaine County Historical Museum, the Ore Wagon Museum, and the Wood River Museum of History + Culture. You might also pick up the new Museums Passport created for summer 2026. Folks can spend the summer trying to visit every Museum in this central Idaho region.
Each Museum will have something special happening for Museums Day! Bellevue will be showcasing its newly restored fire hose cart – original to the city and dating back to the late 1800s, well before the advent of fire trucks. Blaine County Historical Museum will feature a fun historic photo booth and old-fashioned candies for participants to enjoy while exploring the museum and its collections. Wood River Museum of History + Culture will unveil 5 new panels in the How in the World Did You Get to Sun Valley? exhibit and feature Roberta Brass, Sigi Engl, Chuck Ferries, Epi Inchausti, and Hap Miller. The Ore Wagon Museum is normally only open for Wagon Days, but you’ll be able to get inside to see the ore wagons on this special day.
