Join us for an evening with Ariel Delgado Dixon and Mary Pauline Lowry, both past Writers-in-Residence with The Community Library at the historic Ernest and Mary Hemingway House. These friends and extraordinary writers, who met in the Boise State University Creative Writing MFA Program, will share their newest novels – both of which were worked on in Ketchum during their residencies in 2022 and 2020.
Dixon’s Sourland (Penguin Random House, June 2026) sparkles with the beauty and grime of the California woods. After its matriarch’s disappearance, two rival successors fight for control of a California weed farm. A brilliantly constructed and visceral novel of desire and betrayal, Dixon’s novel warns that our true nature catches up to us all—no matter how far we run.
Lowry’s Last Night Was Killer (William Morrow, July 2027) is a charming introduction to the most unlikely and likable of sleuths. The novel follows Tilly Turner, who signs up for an introductory pole-dancing class looking for a distraction. Reeling from her mother’s passing, and with her career as a stand-up comedian in ruins, Tilly has just moved back to the Idaho hometown she was desperate to leave, with her twin daughters in tow. But Tilly gets more than she bargained for after a night out with her new pals. She wakes to a raging hangover, no memory of the evening before, and a dead body in the trunk of her car.
Conversation and reading to be followed by a Q&A and book signing with Iconoclast Books. Registration requested to join us in person. Also available to watch live online (no registration needed for livestream).
