Join SVMoA and Merlin’s Magic Lantern for a screening of “Georgia O’Keefe: the Brightness of Light”, a feature-length documentary exploring the life and art of the most important American woman artist of the 20th century. Known as the “Mother of American Modernism,” O’Keeffe burst onto the New York art scene in the 1920s with striking paintings of flowers, bones, and the natural world.

The film traces her journey from the early days of her controversial relationship with photographer Alfred Stieglitz—whose nude portraits of O’Keeffe shocked the public—to her later years in the New Mexico desert, where she became an icon for second wave feminists in the 1970s.

From Academy Award-winning director Paul Wagner, the film features music by Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch, narration by Hugh Dancy, and Claire Danes as the Voice of Georgia O’Keeffe.

Running time: 1 hour 58 minutes.
