Sun Valley Resort is excited to host the Toyota U.S. Alpine Championships presented by Stifel kicking off April 2 and welcoming elite and next-generation ski racers vying for spots on the Stifel U.S. Alpine Ski Team. The racing event, which runs April 2-5, is the final competition on the hotly contended US national ski racing circuit and is the culmination of a season-long showcase of the best of the best in US ski racing athleticism. Saturday starts the week of events with training opportunities for racers and a sponsor village and live apres music in Warm Springs Plaza. Sunday, April 2, the racing kicks off with men’s and women’s super-G followed by Clicquot in the Snow Party at Warm Springs and the Opening Ceremony at Town Square in Ketchum featuring a Parade of Athletes and a free concert by Lowdown Brass Band. Men's and women's slalom will run on Monday, April 3, women’s giant slalom on Tuesday, April 4, and men’s giant slalom on Wednesday, April 5; each day's races will be followed by awards and live music in the Warm Springs Plaza. Come watch the Idaho Xcel State Gymnastics Championships at the Wood River High School April 1st and 2nd. Support our local athletes, watch incredible gymnastics performances, over 600 gymnasts from 24 gymnastics academies from all over Idaho competing in two days of events. There will be great local food vendors and amazing raffle basket/prizes! Tickets will be available at the door. Join The Community Library in partnership with Courtney Loving, local trauma and psychedelic therapist, in viewing and discussing the 4-part Netflix series How to Change Your Mind by Michael Pollan. Each Wednesday we will screen one 60-minute episode exploring the psychedelics LSD, psilocybin, MDMA and mescaline, and their controversial histories and promising future therapeutic uses. The screenings will be followed by a one-hour discussion, moderated by Loving. This series is being screened courtesy of Netflix's Educational Screenings Permission. Each episode will only be shown once, in-person at the Library, and each screening is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
