As the wrongly accused and suffering wife of Shakespeare's tragic Moor, Othello, Desdemona has long been viewed as the "victim of circumstance." But as Paula Vogel demonstrates in her comic deconstruction of Shakespeare's play - aligning tongue-in-cheek humor while raising serious questions as to the role of women through the ages - Desdemona was far from the quivering naif we've all come to know. The Big Wood Fish Run
Elephant's Perch, Ketchum, IDThe Fish Run is a race that asks racers to run, catch a fish, and drink a beer (although that last part is optional). The Big Wood Fish Run is an irreverent event that almost dares you to not take it seriously. But, the 13 mile course and challenge to catch a fish in a section of river loaded with other competitors is nothing to sniff at. This event will take strategy, cunning, and a willingness to think outside the box. Will you try to catch a fish right out of the gate? Will you run the fastest and go for the “Hail Mary” hole right above the finish line? And don’t discount the beer chug: If you can drink a beer in under 60 seconds (without spilling a drop!), you’ll get 5 minutes knocked off your total time. If you feel like you have what it takes to compete in what is arguably the most ridiculously serious race of the summer, read more below!

Roberta McKercher ParkThe 2023 Hailey Market is on Saturday mornings from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. The Hailey market will remain in it’s wonderful location- the front of Roberta McKercher Park (Main Street on the south end of town, between 3rd and 4th Avenue)! 2nd Sun Valley Culinary Institute’s “Ultimate Wine Tasting Challenge”
Here’s a big challenge for you wine lovers! A one of a kind wine tasting experience is yours at the Elkhorn Inn - Tuesday, July 25th with a $30 Tasting Fee. 8-10 different wines (varietal, based on grape used) will challenge wine lovers both ‘expert' and amateur to identify the grape used. Served in brown bags will be 4 excellent whites and 4 reds to check off against a printed list that includes tasting characteristics of each wine to help in your decisions. Gary Hoffman is representing the Advisory Board in hosting this event as a benefit for the SVCI, "In 40 years of wine tastings, never have I seen this entertaining and educational approach taken". Wine tastings typically ask participants to rank one or two wines based on their preferences among them. In this exciting version, “The Ultimate Wine Tasting Challenge”, a prize and a trophy will be awarded to the person most successful in identifying the grapes used to create the wine, 8 total including Rousanne, Nebbiolo, …plus 2 tiebreaker wines selected to be used as needed. Mountain Humane Hikin’ Buddies
At Hikin’ Buddies, you can take a shelter dog for a hike or hang out and socialize some of the smaller dogs. It is a great opportunity to meet some of Mountain Humane’s adoptable dogs as well as to learn more about the organization. All are welcome to join in throughout the summer, weather permitting. Meet at Adam’s Gulch trailhead, north of Ketchum, from 9:30am - 1:00pm on Wednesdays. No appointment is necessary; just bring your family and friends to have a good time with some dogs that would love to meet you!

The Community LibrarySpecial programs to launch the official opening of the new Wood River Museum of History and Culture, located at 580 4th Street East in Ketchum. The public is invited to the free celebration, which will include refreshments and music. Grammy Award-winning flautist, Hovia S. Edwards (Shoshone-Navajo-Okanogan), will also perform original and traditional melodies.
