Children’s Summer Meals: Volunteer to prepare!

The Hunger Coalition

The Hunger Coalition and The Community Library provide free meals, books and enrichment activities to children throughout the Wood River Valley during summer. Join us in meal preparation; we're serving anywhere from 100 to 200 meals a day! We chef it up Mondays and Wednesday mornings, through August 24. Visit our website to reserve your volunteer time today! Time slots are 8:30am - 11am and 10am to 12:30pm, on both Mondays and Wednesdays.

Mountain Humane Hikin’ Buddies

At Hikin’ Buddies, you can take a shelter dog for a hike or hang out and socialize some of the smaller dogs. It is a great opportunity to meet some of Mountain Humane’s adoptable dogs as well as to learn more about the organization. All are welcome to join in throughout the summer, weather permitting. Meet at Adam’s Gulch trailhead, north of Ketchum, from 9:30am - 1:00pm on Wednesdays. No appointment is necessary; just bring your family and friends to have a good time with some dogs that would love to meet you!

We are excited to announce that starting summer of 2023, the Ketchum Farmers Market will be moving to the Forest Service Park at 131 River St. East!  Come join the fun, shop, taste the freshness of local produce, get to know your farmers, buy in-season produce and plant starts, listen to free music with family and friends and enjoy the atmosphere of the Wood River Farmers’ Markets. River Run Plaza

The River Run Summer Series is a casual opportunity to gather with friends and family for an evening outdoors held four Wednesdays beginning July 26th. The community is invited to come down to River Run from 5 to 8 pm to hang out at the base of beautiful Bald Mountain with live music, lawn games, food and beverages. Lift service will be extended for the series operating until 7pm and a portion of the proceeds from lift ticket sales will benefit a different local non-profit each week. Be sure to keep dogs leashed at River Run Plaza. No uphill hiking (human & dog) on River Run Trail until 8pm Dates July 26 August 2 August 16 August 23 August 30

Hailey Alley Plant Walk

Our popular alley exploration walk is back. Explore the alleyways of Hailey with members of the Wood River Chapter of the Idaho Native Plant Society. You may be surprised at the variety of plants we will see. We can talk about garden escapees, invasive plants, Idaho natives, trees and more. This “hike” will be around a mile but the terrain can be a little uneven. Allow 2 hours. Meet outside Town Center West (River X Croy Sts) at 6:15pm MT, ready for head out walking at 6:30pm.

Killebrew-Thompson’s Cancer in Focus: ESPN’s Chris Berman to Interview 6-Time Cancer Survivor

ESPN broadcaster and long-time KTM supporter Chris “Boomer” Berman will facilitate the panel discussion at this year’s “Cancer in Focus” event, featuring inspirational former Minnesota Golden Gopher football player and six-time cancer survivor Casey O’Brien. O’Brien, winner of the 2019 Disney Spirit Award for most inspiring college football player, won’t be talking much about sports, not even golf. Instead, he’ll discuss his battle with cancer, what motivates him, and what research has meant to him on his cancer journey. Facilitated by Berman, a six-time honoree of the National Sports Media Association’s National Sportscaster of the Year award, the “Cancer in Focus” conversation will also feature O’Brien’s oncologist and cancer researcher Brenda Weigel, M.D., M.S., of the Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota, and M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital. Located at the Sun Valley Inn in the Continental Room.

Sun Valley Story Tour

Jump on the Mountain Rides Blue Route from the Visitor Center in Ketchum for a one-hour free bus tour highlighting the area's rich heritage. Guided by local volunteers. The Mountain Rides Blue Route leaves the Visitor Center at 10:15 am and returns in one hour after traveling to Warm Springs, back to downtown Ketchum, out to Sun Valley and Elkhorn, and back to the Visitor Center. Space on the Mountain Rides bus is limited to 20 Sun Valley Story Tour passengers so we encourage early sign-ups at the Visitor Center Register in advance for this tour by calling 208.726.3423, via email: info@visitsunvalley.com or in person at the Visitor Center at 491 Sun Valley Road, Ketchum. Register no later 9:45am on Friday (day of the tour) on space available basis.
