Pick Your Poison – Cicutoxin: “Seize” the Day!
Hailey Town Center WestThe Hailey Public Library’s favorite forensic chemist Cat Helms takes a look at cicutoxin, the poison found in water hemlock, in the popular Pick Your Poison series. Common along small ditches and wet meadows in Blaine County, it is considered the most violently toxic plant growing in North America. Learn how to identify water hemlock, the mechanisms by which it wreaks havoc on the central nervous system, and what to do if it is accidentally ingested or touched. The free talk will be held at Town Center West, 116 S River, Thursday, June 8, from 5:30-7:00 PM.

It's time for the best bloom of the lovely camas lily, Camassia quamash. It should also be a great day for viewing water and shore birds and maybe even nesting sandhill cranes. Meet at Timmerman Hill Rest Stop )Hwy 20 X 75) by 8:45am MT to leave at 9am. Rated Easy, mostly driving. Bring a lunch/snack for a mid day picnic. TEEN WORKSHOP: Exquisite Corpse
SVMoA Hailey ClassroomOriginally a game invented by Surrealist artists in Paris in the 1920s, “Exquisite Corpse” is a collaborative activity designed to stimulate creativity. In this 2-day workshop, examine the history and concept behind the Exquisite Corpse, subjectivity and color theory. Participants will create collages and paintings in a collaborative environment, developing design and color relationship skills, collectively assembling words and images. Participants are encouraged to bring images (drawings, photographs, magazine materials, etc.) to be used in the collaborative projects. Living with Alzheimer’s: Understanding and Responding to Dementia-Related Behaviors
Hailey Town Center WestHailey Public Library and the Greater Idaho Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will host Dr. Carol Stephens, Psy.D. on Tuesday, June 13, from 12:00 – 1:00 PM, for part three of the Living with Alzheimer’s series. Learn to decode behavioral messages, identify common triggers, and learn strategies to help manage some of the most common behavioral challenges of Alzheimer’s disease. Flourish FoundationThis class brings together elements of a traditional yoga class - stretching, balancing, mindful awareness and deep relaxation with informative and supportive group discussions. Women have an opportunity to connect deeply with their bodies during this time of rapid physical and emotional change. Through the practice of mindfulness, women learn to slow down and pay attention so that they can connect fully with their growing baby and also listen deeply to and trust their body's innate birthing wisdom.
