Sawtooth Rangers 4th of July Rodeo: Rodeo is a proud tradition in the West and in Hailey the Sawtooth Rangers have held an exciting professional rodeo, featuring some of the best riders and stock in the country, over the 4th of July every year since 1947. In 2011 the City of Hailey invested over $3 million to build a new state-of-the-art rodeo arena and grounds at the entrance to the city at Werthheimer Park to play host to the Sawtooth Rangers Rodeo as well as other events throughout the year. 2023 Rodeo dates are July 2 - 4 Rodeo starts nightly at 7:30pm. Grab your art supplies and get outside! Painting and drawing nature are ways to develop an informal art practice that connects us to the ecology of the places we inhabit. Sign up for one or both of these 4-hour workshops! In workshops offered on July 5 and 6, students will tap into observation skills and learn basic drawing or painting techniques as we sketch plants and vegetables growing in our backyards. Students should come prepared to carry their art materials for sketching and exploring the blooms in The Hunger Coalition’s Hope Garden, just steps from SVMoA’s Hailey Classroom. Age & ability: 16 and older, beginners welcome! $100 member / $125 nonmember

Take out lunches from the Senior Connection including a short reading selection presented by the Community Library. Thursdays, beginning June 8th, lunch served 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Pick up your lunch or stay awhile at the Library's Cimino Plaza, outside the Children’s Library Entrance at 4th and Walnut (the program will move indoors to the Learning Commons during inclement weather). Come enjoy a nutritious and convenient lunch while engaging with other community members over interesting literature. Lunch registration is required.

Space and You with Dr. Lindsay DeMarchi

It was true when Carl Sagan said, "we are made of star-stuff," but we contain far more—a universe, in fact! Come spend the evening with visiting Astronomer-in-Residence Dr. Lindsay DeMarchi. Relax as we unwind into dazzling mixtures of nebulae and galaxies, with commentary from history's great poets and writers alike. We will reminisce with stars about the end of their lives, and how their cosmic legacy has been handed down to us on our humble Earth. Presented in partnership with the Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve Astronomer-in-Residence Program. Dr. DeMarchi is a 2023 Astronomer in Residence with the CIDSP, supported by Boise State University with support from NASA. Registration is recommended to save a seat. This program will also be livestreamed and available to watch later. Dr. Lindsay DeMarchi is an interdisciplinary space environmentalist and stellar mortician, proudly engaging the public on all matters dark and wondrous. She is the Astronomer-in-Residence at the Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve and author of numerous scientific articles to bring awareness to outer-space sustainability and light pollution. She is most passionate about empowering the cultural and personal connections each individual has to the night sky and their role in environmental stewardship.

Event Series Sun Valley Story Tour

Sun Valley Story Tour

Jump on the Mountain Rides Blue Route from the Visitor Center in Ketchum for a one-hour free bus tour highlighting the area's rich heritage. Guided by local volunteers. The Mountain Rides Blue Route leaves the Visitor Center at 10:15 am and returns in one hour after traveling to Warm Springs, back to downtown Ketchum, out to Sun Valley and Elkhorn, and back to the Visitor Center. Space on the Mountain Rides bus is limited to 20 Sun Valley Story Tour passengers so we encourage early sign-ups at the Visitor Center Register in advance for this tour by calling 208.726.3423, via email: info@visitsunvalley.com or in person at the Visitor Center at 491 Sun Valley Road, Ketchum. Register no later 9:45am on Friday (day of the tour) on space available basis.

Each year SVGA hosts multiple gallery walks (exhibition openings for all SVGA galleries), which are eagerly anticipated and free to the public. Locals and visitors alike take in thought-provoking exhibitions of newly installed art, enjoy wine, mingle with friends, and often meet the artists.
