Try your hand at printmaking using a press. Cut a 4x6 linoleum block and do a simple one-color print. Work from images provided in the Open Studio, or bring in your own to work from. You are also welcome to bring your own paper to print on. Museum staff will assist with using the press and teaching some basics of printmaking. All printmaking materials are provided at the Open Studio. Teens are invited to Teen Art Night, a free art-making program by and for teens. Work with SVMoA Staff and Teen Interns to create and learn new techniques with art projects inspired by SVMoA's current exhibition. All free and geared toward young people ages 14-20. Pre-registration encouraged, drop-ins welcome No experience necessary. Open to all teenagers of any experience and interest levels, ages 12–18. Teen Night takes place from 5:30–7pm. About Teen Nights Teens are invited to Teen Night, a free art-making program on select Fridays by and for teens. Work with SVMoA Team to create and learn new techniques with art projects inspired by SVMoA’s past and present exhibitions. All free and geared toward young people ages 12–18.

Join us for Afternoon Art, a free drop-in program where community members of all ages can explore themes from the Museum's current exhibition and create unique works of art. Families and friends are invited to play, create, and collaborate as artists, making this a perfect activity for art lovers, curious minds, and anyone looking for inspiration. Projects will vary, so there’s always something new to discover! Afternoon Art is held in Ketchum on the first Friday of each month and in Hailey on the second Friday from 2:30–4:30 PM. Use this opportunity to hone technical drawing skills in a relaxed environment while drawing directly from the human figure. A model will hold a variety of poses throughout the 2-hour session. All skill levels are welcome. Bring your own supplies; drawing boards will be provided. Age & ability: 18+, all skill levels welcome! WORKSHOP: Intermediate Fly-Tying with Paddy McIlvoy

The Intermediate/Advanced Fly-Tying series is designed for people looking to refine their skills in tying their flies. In this class, instructor Paddy McIlvoy will teach students more advanced techniques for fly tying and working with a greater range of materials. Each class will focus on a single fly, so sign up for one or all three. Participants should know the basics of fly-tying. Participants will leave with the flies they create. All materials and tools will be provided. Age and ability: 16+ years old and intermediate level Registration is per class, not the entire series. Feb 13: Advanced Fly Tying - Spinning Deer Hair. Learn to spin, stack and trim deer hair. Feb 20: Advanced Fly Tying - Composite Loops – Learn to create multi material dubbing loops Feb 27: Advanced Fly Tying - Game Changer Style Streamers – Learn to tie multi-joint streamers that swim, dart, and wiggle. This is a series of 3 workshops that take place from 6-8pm on Thursdays, Feb 13, Feb 20 and Feb 27 at the Hailey Classroom. Registration is per class

Leather is a living material that with care and repair can last forever. Create your own tote bag and accessories in a class with cowboy boot maker Morgan Buckert. Build your own accessories that will last a lifetime out of Horween American-tanned leather seconds. Participant will hand-stitch a tote bag, perfect for everyday use and create additional accessories, like a key chain or wallets from the leather remnants. This leather with small blemishes has been rejected by larger companies, but can be manipulated to create the highest quality products that you will be proud to carry. Age & Ability: 18+, beginners welcome! This is a two-day workshop that takes place Saturday, February 22, and Sunday, February 23 from 10am-4pm at the Hailey Classroom. About the Instructor Morgan Buckert builds custom cowboy boots in her Hailey, Idaho workshop. Using traditional techniques and vintage machinery, Morgan builds cowboy boots and leather goods meant to last a lifetime.

WORKSHOP: Beginning Fly-Tying with James Gillespie

Introduction to Fly-Tying is designed for the beginner with no or minimal experience looking to tie their own flies. In this two-class series, instructor James Gillespie will teach students how to tie classic flies as he shares his knowledge of fly-tying tools, materials, and basic techniques. Participants will leave with the flies they create and the ability to tie a basic fly pattern. All materials and tools will be provided. No prior experience is necessary. If participants have any of their fly-tying tools, they are welcome to bring them. Age and ability: 16+ years old and beginners welcome This 2-session workshop takes place Thu, Jan 30 6–8pm and Thu, Feb 6, 6–8pm at the Hailey Classroom. All supplies will be provided by SVMoA. About the instructor: James Gillespie is a self-taught fisherman who has been fishing his entire life. Tying his own flies has always been a part of his love of fishing, and he looks forward to sharing what he knows with interested students.
