In addition to the exhibitions Tina Barney: Homecoming and Rob Davis: Records, we’ll have live music, drinks, food trucks, and a pop-up performance from Los Angeles-based dance company BODYTRAFFIC. OPEN STUDIO: Summer in the Makerspace—Ketchum

Summer in the Makerspace is a non-instructed DIY opportunity for families and teens to explore, experiment, and collaborate using different materials, tools, and techniques. Each week will feature a surprise project as inspiration. All materials will be provided. Recommended for families with children of all ages (ages 10 & under require adult supervision).

Enjoy refreshments as you tour Interwoven with SVMoA’s curator. Intertwined: Weaving in Community examines traditional weaving as a platform for social practice and activism. The exhibition features artwork by Portland-based artist Sara Siestreem (Hanis Coos), Los Angeles-based artist Tanya Aguiñiga, and AMBOS (Art Made Between Opposite Sides), a collective Aguiñiga founded in 2016. The exhibition also includes a community-based artwork emerging from workshops AMBOS is conducting in the Wood River Valley in April. Visitors to the Museum are invited to contribute to the artwork as it grows over the course of the exhibition.

Play, create, discover, and have fun! Afternoon Art is a free drop-in opportunity for community members of all ages to explore concepts from the Museum's current exhibition and create works of art. Families and friends are encouraged to communicate, reflect, and produce as artists together. Perfect for art lovers, curious minds, and anyone seeking inspiration. Projects will vary. Afternoon Art is offered in Ketchum on the first Friday of each month and in Hailey on the second Friday from 1:30-4:30pm and are recommended for families with children of all ages. Please be sure to check dates and location.

Develop curricular connections and gain tools, strategies, and thinking routines for integrating art and objects into everyday classroom learning. Participate in a professional learning community of supportive and reflective educational practitioners. ABOUT SVMOA EDUCATOR EVENINGS Educator Evening is a FREE professional development series occurring monthly. Blaine County educators may receive in-service (continuing education) hours for their participation.

WORKSHOP: Paint & Sip—Living with Wolves

SVMoA and Living with Wolves invite you to an evening of learning about wolves and making art. Learn about the social dynamics of wolves and discover how Jim and Jamie Dutcher lived with a wolf pack for six years on the edge of Idaho’s Sawtooth Wilderness. After, find inspiration for your painting in the sounds and images of these beautiful creatures while enjoying light refreshments. Living with Wolves is a non-profit organization dedicated to engaging the public worldwide in education, outreach and research to promote truth and understanding about wolves, while encouraging coexistence and inspiring people to take action to protect them. LECTURE: MashUp #3 — Bird-Proof Buildings & Habit Rehab

The Sun Valley Museum of Art is collaborating with Boise State University’s College of Innovation + Design to bring their MashUp lecture series to the Wood River Valley. Inspired by similar programs at Denver Museum of Contemporary Art and the Palm Springs Art Museum, MashUps are designed to bring audiences together with lecturers to create new connections and linkages between disparate ideas. For each MashUp evening, two presenters will each speak for 20 minutes on a topic of their passion, and a third 20-minute segment invites the audience to ask questions and find commonality between the two disparate topics. The host and timekeeper for the evening will be Boise State University’s College of Innovation + Design’s Associate Dean, Jen Schneider. Kirsten Furlong is an artist and the Director of the Blue Galleries in the Department of Art, Design and Visual Studies at Boise State. She will be talking about a collaboration between the Center for the Visual Arts and the Intermountain Bird Observatory focused on decreasing bird deaths caused by architectural design, and how this relates to her own art about the natural world.
