Alaska Airlines & their partner, Horizon, have just announced that they have received approval to use a new proprietary radar system that is expected to reduce the number of weather-related diversions by 95%! This is huge news just in time for the winter season as weather can play a pivitol role in landing in the Wood River Valley.  Read the full press release here.

SHAPE Magazine recently gave the Sun Valley Resort a nod for being the Top All-Around ski lodge. “Ski all morning, then switch to ice skates in the afternoon at the lodge’s rink, where you can often spot former Olympic skaters. Afterward, visit the lodge’s bowling alley, geothermal pool or spa, which offers seasonal treatments to soothe ski-sore muscles.” -SHAPE See the article in the November 2016 issue of SHAPE on pg 138.

We’re thrilled to announce the addition of a non-stop flight from Portland to Sun Valley starting December 17th, 2016! The new Alaska Airlines flight from Portland (PDX) to Sun Valley (SUN) will run twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, for the winter season as well as the summer 2017 season. The flight will be Alaska’s first nonstop flight to a ski destination from Portland.   The winter flight will run December 17, 2016 through April 1, 2017 with the following schedule:  Departs PDX at 9:40am, arrives SUN at 12:12pm Departs SUN at 12:47pm, arrives PDX at 1:41pm  We look forward to having this fantastic addition to our exisitng line-up of direct flights that includes: Salt Lake City, Denver, Seattle, Los Angeles, and San Francisco!

Golf Digest has ranked Sun Valley Resort as one of the best resort courses in the Pacific Northwest for 2016!
