Wood River Orchestra

The Wood River Orchestra was formed in 2007 to provide opportunities for local musicians of all ages and abilities to perform orchestral music. The group performs 3 to 4 concerts each year–all of which are free to the public–as well as several informal concerts and special events. The Wood River Orchestra is a nonprofit organization supported solely through donations and grants. The orchestra is led by conductor Brad Hershey, and there are currently 25-30 core musicians who play in the orchestra. Please contact us at [email protected] if you’d like to participate! Our purpose is to enrich the lives of area residents by providing opportunities to actively perform and enjoy music and to inspire others to experience it as an essential component of daily life.

Sun Valley Music Festival

Instilling a lifelong love of classical music… Through inspiring, admission-free, performances in a spectacular setting—in tandem with tuition-free education programs that propel young musicians—Sun Valley Music Festival encourages and provides opportunities for people from all walks of life to listen, learn, and play. Founded in 1985 as the Elkhorn Music Festival by Dr. Carl Eberl, professor emeritus at the College of the City University of New York, and his wife Julianne, the orchestra grew from 22 musicians to 55 at the time of his retirement. Under the leadership of Maestro Alasdair Neale since 1995, the orchestra has grown to more than 100 players and presents free concerts to over 50,000 people annually.
