The moment you step onto the front porch of the Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch, you feel its magic. With the incomparable Sawtooth Mountains and Salmon River as backdrop, this authentic, gracious, spirited Ranch welcomes you to a uniquely western experience and the west's most gracious traditions. Just north of Ketchum, surrounded by more wilderness than anywhere in the lower 48, set in one of the most majestic regions of the country, the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, Ranch guests are free to choose from the limitless outdoor adventures available, both on the Ranch and in this spectacular area. Our open schedules and relaxed atmosphere, combined with a knowledgeable concierge service, allow guests a truly custom experience. Hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, fishing, our natural hot springs pool, stocked pond, Salmon River access, the iconic front porch with Old Hickory rockers all offer superb adventure and relaxation on our scenic 900 acres. On the National Register of Historic Places, the Ranch’s recent renovations added comfort while preserving historic integrity. Complete with luxury linens and fireplaces, you’ll feel cozy, pampered and right at home. We offer 14 cabins, a family cabin, a honeymoon cabin, and 4 main lodge rooms.  Each day our talented chef prepares delicious and healthy meals using local ingredients. Breakfast, picnic lunch, and dinner are included in the lodging rates. Weekly dinners offer a range of experience, from fine dining, to bbq and Dutch oven, with music 4 nights per week.

The Ranch also is the perfect location for a family reunion, wedding or other private party, and exclusive Ranch occupancy is available for these private events.  And, six nights a week local visitors may visit the Ranch for dinner, by reservation.

Weekly Special Activities for Ranch guests: 

Monday and Thursday morning biking clinics, with Jeff Ballas and Bill Leavell, will introduce beginning riders to the mechanics and joy of mountain biking, including an initiation pedal on the Ranch.

Tuesday morning Fly Casting Clinic with Mary Ann Dozer, Silver Creek Outfitters, offers something for casters of all ability levels.  Beginners  experience what it feels like to cast a fly rod and learn the fundamentals of casting. More experienced casters will receive Mary Ann’s personal attention and  pointers to take their casting to the next level.

Wednesday evening Let’s Talk Fishing on the IRMR porch, with Mary Ann and Dave Dozer.  They’ll share their passion for fly fishing, their knowledge of local waters, answer any questions or cover topics you might have.  This will be a wonderful opportunity to learn about gear, techniques, fly patterns and local hot-spots, during your evening porch time.  For all lodging and dinner guests. 

Thursday, a guided hike, with Bill Leavell, under the auspices of Sawtooth Mountain Guides.  Bill will guide a limited number of guests on an intermediate-advanced hike in the Sawtooth Mountains.

Friday Fly Tying Class, offered by Dave Dozer will teach the fundamentals of fly tying, tying 2 to 3 of Dave’s favorite local fly patterns in this 1.5 hour class. The $50 fee includes all tools and materials, and may be be billed to your room.

The Ranch is open for guests June - September.  The office is open to assist you year-round, Monday thru Friday.
