Join SVMoA for an in-person talk by Dr. Sarah Magnatta from the University of Denver as we highlight Realms of the Dharma: Buddhist Art Across Asia, an exhibition currently on display until July 12, 2026 at The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). Dr. Magnatta will discuss the key concepts of Buddhist thought and practice as they are seen through sculptures, paintings, textiles, and ritual objects. Realms of the Dharma: Buddhist Art Across Asia explores the life of Buddha, the role of the bodhisattva savior, Buddhist cosmology, and such key concepts as dharma, karma, nirvana, mantra, mudra, and mandala.

Dr. Magnatta received her PhD in art history from the Ohio State University and her MA in art history from the University of Denver. She specializes in global contemporary art and museum studies and teaches courses at the University of Denver on contemporary art through global perspectives.
