50 Years Strong: Celebrating 50 Years of BCRD at Galena Lodge

event-194531-1782239634

In 2026, BCRD celebrates its 50th anniversary with a series of community events and opportunities to reflect on the memories, people, and places that have shaped recreation across the valley. 50 Years Strong takes place on Sunday, July 26, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Galena Lodge.

This summer celebration encourages community members to get outside and enjoy the trails that have connected generations of residents and visitors. Whether by hiking, biking, or simply spending time outdoors with family and friends, participants are invited to celebrate recreation in a place that has been part of BCRD’s story for decades. Community members are also invited to gather at Galena Lodge and enjoy complimentary fries and a drink, courtesy of BCRD.

“This milestone belongs to the community,” said Mark Davidson, Executive Director of BCRD. “BCRD exists because of our passionate community. They participated, donated, volunteered, coached, and believed that recreation strengthens quality of life. Our 50th anniversary is about honoring that shared legacy and continuing to build it together.”

Throughout the anniversary year, BCRD invites community members to take part in simple, meaningful ways. Share a story from the past, explore a favorite trail, discover a new program, or join one of the events planned in celebration of 50 years of service to Blaine County residents.

The celebration at Galena Lodge is open to all, and everyone is welcome, whether longtime participants or first-time visitors.
