Paul Klee, a Swiss-German painter, fled Germany in 1933 when he and other modern artists were vilified by the rising Nazi Party. Isolated in Switzerland, a mysterious disease began wreaking havoc on his body and profoundly changing his artwork. Narrator/director, Ken August Meyer, explores Klee’s expressive last works after being diagnosed with the same life-threatening disease, systemic scleroderma. Through a curation of Klee’s work, Ken finds powerful messages on coping with his own mortality. Using colorful and whimsical visuals, Angel Applicant echoes the mystique and ironic wit of Klee, demonstrating how creativity can inspire us to overcome personal suffering and make the most of life. $10 member / $12 nonmember

He enlisted in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in 1940 and was assigned to Stanley and Crouch. Join the Friends of the Sawtooth Avalanche Center for a 2-hour presentation based on the Know Before You Go platform, introducing basic concepts about snow, avalanches, and traveling safely in and near avalanche terrain. Learn from the Friends of SAC instructor team of snow experts, mountain guides, and experienced avalanche educators. 2024 Wood River Trail Challenge

This complimentary event is a wonderful opportunity for community members to engage in a healthy and enjoyable outdoor activity this winter. The Challenge is set to run from January 26 through February 23, welcoming everyone who enjoys skiing, walking, snowshoeing, or fatbiking. Participants can complete the full 32 kilometers of the Wood River Trail, either in one go or in sections over a four-week period. By participating, not only will individuals get to experience the beautiful Wood River Trail, but they will also receive a prize from BCRD and enter a drawing for a chance to win a free 2024/25 BCRD Nordic season pass.

Join us for a complimentary Bald Mountain Tour, offered every Monday, Wednesday & Friday throughout the winter season. Tours meet at 9:30am in the Mountain View Room at River Run Lodge and are guided by one of the friendly members of our Mountain Guest Services team (yellow coats). They will guide you around Bald Mountain’s vast terrain, share where the best skiing and riding is and wow you with some amazing historical facts about Sun Valley. Tours are open for all ski levels.
