Motorized Introduction to Avalanches Field Day – Cancelled

This event has been cancelled Designed for motorized backcountry travel. Join the Friends of the Sawtooth Avalanche Center instructors for a field day covering avalanche rescue basics, snowpack layering, avalanche terrain identification, and basic backcountry travel. The field day will take place at Baker Creek. There is a connected presentation at the Sawtooth Snowmobile Club at Karl Malone’s in Hailey on January 10. We highly recommend going to that before coming to the field day. presented by Banff International Film Festival The Argyros is psyched to once again host the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour! Doors open at 6:00pm and films begin at 7:00pm. Tickets • $25.00 in advance PURCHASE HERE,  $29 at the door. Each night’s showing will have eight new films for a total of 24 films over the three day run. River Run Lodge

Join us for a complimentary Bald Mountain Tour, offered every Monday, Wednesday & Friday throughout the winter season. Tours meet at 9:30am in the Mountain View Room at River Run Lodge and are guided by one of the friendly members of our Mountain Guest Services team (yellow coats). They will guide you around Bald Mountain’s vast terrain, share where the best skiing and riding is and wow you with some amazing historical facts about Sun Valley. Tours are open for all ski levels.

Neighborly Spanish is a free, 8-week class taught on Mondays from noon-1:30 PM by retired local Spanish teacher Jim King. The class will offer basic Spanish language skills seasoned with a little history and culture. Enrollment limited to 20. Classes are on Mondays, starting January 22 through March 18. Join is for our Ski with a Ranger tours on Bald Mountain every Tuesday and Thursday this winter season. A Forest Service ranger meets interested guests at the Bald Mountain Map near Sun Valley’s Lookout Restaurant. The tour lasts a pleasant hour while skiing the mountain making three stops for the ranger to give his talk. Topics covered include a wealth of interesting information about local history, geography, geology, the Bald Mountain Stewardship program, expansion plans and local public lands.
