Bald MountainSun Valley's only snowboard specific event. Celebrating 12 years! This year the BBS will be a ONE DAY event. Format: Friday, practice and registration party. Saturday: best of two runs. Your time from your second run will not be visible until the awards cerimony. Results: Run times can be viewed in real-time by downloading the Its Your Race Phone App Sponsors: Fat Tire, Traeger Grills, Idarado Media, YETI, Patagonia, Sun Valley Resort, Smith Optics, Board Bin, MTN Approach, Olympia Provisions. Entry fee includes event tee shirt from Press Print House. Saturday, March 2nd: 8 – 9 am – Registration at Warm Springs Base Lodge (waver signature and bib pick-up) 9 -10 am – Practice - top of Warm Springs lift. 10am - Race starts. 3pm - Awards ceremony at TBD location Lift Tickets: Discounted $64 event ticket is available only to registered racers. Carol's Dollar Mountain LodgeFun, Free Downhill Race for Kids! Started by the original founders back in 1957, this fun ski and snow board event is for non-sanctioned racers ages 3 to 12. It is held at Sun Valley’s Dollar Mountain in the spring, usually in March. The event attracts up to 250 skiers who all earn commemorative pins. The Olympic gold medal winner Picabo Street was a Kindercup champion! Other famous Sun Valley area skiers to have been past Kindercup champions include: Langely McNeal, Graham Watanabe, Wyatt Caldwell and more! Friedman Memorial AirportFriedman Memorial Airport (KSUN) will be hosting a TSA PreCheck® enrollment event in collaboration with IDEMIA, a TSA PreCheck® authorized enrollment provider. Travelers will be able to enroll at the TSA pop-up enrollment center located in the airport’s south terminal lounge area, 1616 Airport Cir., Hailey Idaho. The enrollment event runs from Monday, March 4 through Friday, March 8. Daily hours are 9 a.m. to noon and 1 – 5 p.m. The program is open to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals and lawful permanent residents. The enrollment process is quick, convenient and even faster when the application is completed online beforehand. The in-person enrollment requires that applicants provide proof of identity, proof of citizenship, fingerprints and a photo . Neighborly Spanish Returns!
Hailey Town Center WestNeighborly Spanish is a free, 8-week class taught on Mondays from noon-1:30 PM by retired local Spanish teacher Jim King. The class will offer basic Spanish language skills seasoned with a little history and culture. Enrollment limited to 20. Classes are on Mondays, starting January 22 through March 18. Sun Valley Music Festival Winter Season
Sixth winter season spotlights Jon Kimura Parker with all-Brahms programs. The Sun Valley Music Festival presents its sixth Winter Season at the Argyros Performing Arts Center, from March 6 to 9. The 2024 Winter Season focuses on “The Romance of Brahms” and offers two chamber music programs specially curated by Music Director Alasdair Neale, featuring pianist Jon Kimura Parker — winner of the Gold Medal at the 1984 Leeds International Piano Competition — and string musicians from the all-star Sun Valley Music Festival Orchestra. Presented in an intimate atmosphere, the all-Brahms programs include beloved pieces by the Romantic composer for solo piano and string ensembles, such as Hungarian Dance No. 4 in F Minor, Quintet No. 1 in F Major, Trio No. 1 in B Major, and the inventive and technically demanding Handel Variations. The two unique programs will be performed on alternating evenings: the first on March 6 and 8, the second on March 7 and 9. The concerts will take place at the Argyros Performing Arts Center in Ketchum, starting at 7:00 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.) The concerts are about two hours long, including a 20-minute intermission. As always, attendance is free, though reservations are required. ...
