Visit Sun Valley invites you to our Community Shindig on Thursday, November 7th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Whiskey's on Main in Ketchum. Our team will provide a short presentation including a review of the summer season, what to expect this upcoming winter season, and guest speakers will talk about the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals and 5850 Fest. The presentation starts at 5:15pm. Afterwards stay around for networking. This event is free to attend. Appetizers and a drink ticket per person will be provided.

An Evening with Adam Johnson

Join us for an evening with Adam Johnson, author of National Book Award-winning "Fortune Smiles," and Pulitzer Prize-winning "The Orphan Master's Son," among other titles. Johnson is a Professor of English with emphasis in creative writing at Stanford University. He is the winner of a Whiting Award and Fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts and the American Academy in Berlin. His stories have appeared in Esquire, GQ, Playboy, Harper's Magazine, Granta, The Paris Review, The Best American Short Stories, The Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy and have been recognized with the Story Prize, The Sunday Times Short Story Award and the Dayton Literary Peace Prize. His work has been translated into more than three-dozen languages. He was born in South Dakota and is an enrolled member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe. His teaching and research interests include the development of the novel, indigeneity, the oral tradition, counter narrative, trauma theory and speculative fiction. Play, create, discover, and have fun! Afternoon Art is a free drop-in opportunity for community members of all ages to explore concepts from the Museum's current exhibition and create works of art. Families and friends are encouraged to communicate, reflect, and produce as artists together. Perfect for art lovers, curious minds, and anyone seeking inspiration. Projects will vary. Age & Ability: all ages, families encouraged to attend together Hailey Afternoon Art runs from 1:30–4:30pm at SVMoA's Hailey Classroom. Afternoon Art is offered in Ketchum on the first Friday of each month and in Hailey on the second Friday from 1:30-4:30pm and are recommended for families with children of all ages. Please be sure to check dates and location.

Sun Valley Mustard 40th Anniversary Party

Sun Valley Mustard is one of the longest locally owned companies with local production. Celebrate with their partners at the Sun Valley Culinary Institute (SVCI) on Friday, November 8, from 4 to 6 p.m., with mustard-inspired delectables created by SVCI students and chefs. The anniversary party will also include beer from Sawtooth Brewery and Warfield Distillery & Brewery, cider provided by Meriwether Cider Co. and hand-crafted nuts from City Peanut of Boise. Sun Valley Mustard sources Amber Ale from Sawtooth Brewery to create their amber ale mustard and SVM is collaborating with City Peanut on a forthcoming project. Saturdays, November 2 – April 5, from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm Co-work with a community of writers the first Saturday of each month for focused writing and craft discussions and connect to other writers from the Wood River Valley and beyond! All writing abilities and ages welcome. Join us in The Community Library’s Idaho Room, or online via Zoom. The Wood River Writers’ Groups are led by AJ Super, a local author with a trilogy of science fiction books published by a small traditional press. She is also a Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers’ Association (SFWA) member.

Bring your own needles and yarn, and come learn beginning knitting from master knitter and Sun Valley Needle Arts owner Patricia Lirk. Come learn to knit, ask questions and solve knitting mysteries, and meet others. Second and fourth mondays of the month. All skill levels welcome. Registration requested.
