BILINGUAL COMMUNITY WORKSHOP: Natural Dyes & Cyanotype Prints
The Hunger CoalitionJoin artists from AMBOS (Art Made Between Opposite Sides), SVMoA, and the Hunger Coalition for a two-part workshop: dying fabric with natural dyes and making cyanotype prints! Artists Tanya Aguiñiga and Natalie M. Godinez will lead you in using plants and vegetables to dye fabric and pillows and also creating stunning one-of-a-kind photo prints using natural sunlight. Some of the art created will be used in a collaborative art installation that will be exhibited at the Sun Valley Museum of Art. The installation will be a collaboration between the artists, communities living throughout the Wood River Valley and people awaiting asylum along the U.S.-Mexico border. About AMBOS (Art Made Between Opposite Sides) A femme-led binational artist collaborative that works along the U.S./Mexico border to build migrant support systems through craft, care, and mutual aid to advance pro-migrant narratives. Part of SVMoA’s exhibition Intertwined: Weaving in Community.

Wanderlust: Hiking the Great Rift
Hailey Town Center WestThe Hailey Public Library will host Hiking the Great Rift, a talk by retired park ranger Ted Stout and part of the Wanderlust series inviting the community to travel the world, virtually. In 2014 Ted and a few friends embarked on a week-long expedition across the forbidding terrain of Craters of the Moon National Monument. The talk, featuring stunning images by local photographer Craig Wolfrom, will be held Thursday, April 4, at 5:30 PM at Town Center West, 7 W Croy, and live streamed.

ADULT WORKSHOP: Shibori Scarves
SVMoA Hailey ClassroomLos Angeles-based artists Tanya Aguiñiga and Natalie M. Godinez of AMBOS will teach various shibori dye techniques. Shibori, a traditional Japanese form of dying, allows makers to create beautiful and intricate patterns on fabric. With guidance from the artists, participants will leave the workshop with a shibori wool scarf of their own design. About AMBOS (Art Made Between Opposite Sides) A femme-led binational artist collaborative that works along the U.S./Mexico border to build migrant support systems through craft, care, and mutual aid to advance pro-migrant narratives. Co-presented by SVMoA and The Alliance of Idaho. Part of SVMoA’s exhibition Intertwined: Weaving in Community.

The Community LibraryKetchum Remote Collective aims to bridge the intangible gap between the Wood River Valley’s physical community and the remote workplace for many of its residents. SVMoA MEMBERS: Exhibition Preview & Opening Celebration
Sun Valley Museum of ArtSVMoA members are invited to join artists Sara Siestreem, Tanya Aguiñiga and Natalie Godinez for a walkthrough of Intertwined: Weaving in Community at 5pm, followed by an opening celebration. Refreshments will be served. Intertwined: Weaving in Community examines traditional weaving as a platform for social practice and activism. The exhibition features artwork by Portland-based artist Sara Siestreem (Hanis Coos), Los Angeles-based artist Tanya Aguiñiga, and AMBOS (Art Made Between Opposite Sides), a collective Aguiñiga founded in 2016. The exhibition also includes a community-based artwork emerging from workshops AMBOS is conducting in the Wood River Valley in April. Visitors to the Museum are invited to contribute to the artwork as it grows over the course of the exhibition. FREE for SVMoA Members! Pre-registration required.

The ArgyrosLED is a group of artists, directors, designers, and producers who make art. LED weaves movement, original musical compositions, and elements of film into stories that push the boundaries of what an artistic encounter can look and feel like. Based in Boise, they aim to uplift their community, and far beyond, by creating meaningful experiences for all that spark curiosity and wonder. Kid Lightning tells the story of a group of talented contestants on a popular game show. Set within a 1970s stylized world, these individuals push their limits to claim fame and enter the intoxicating arena of celebrity, only to discover that it was more than they bargained for.
