Free Casting Clinics with Silver Creek Outfitters
Sun Valley InnLearn to fly cast, or brush up on your double haul technique with one of our fun and experienced guides. These casting clinics are for anyone who is curious or just a little rusty. Clinics will run Tuesday through Saturday at the Sun Valley Resort from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm throughout the summer. Equipment will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. Hemingway’s Sun Valley & “In Our Time”
The Community LibraryDuring this three-part, seminar-style class, we will embrace the day as Ernest Hemingway did when he was in the Wood River Valley in the late 1930s and early 1940s. Join Sun Valley Community School English teacher Phil Huss and local author of Hemingway’s Sun Valley in a course that combines seminar discussions on Hemingway’s radical, innovative short story collection In Our Time and excursions to canoe Silver Creek and visit local Hemingway sites to learn about the local stories that connect Hemingway to the Wood River Valley and his fiction. Writing opportunities involve imitation of a Hemingway short story in microfiction that connects a local story and a Hemingway character, and nonfiction personal essays that manifest a principle of the Hemingway Code. No prior knowledge of Hemingway’s life or texts needed. Just a curious mind. Space is limited for this three-part class series and registration is reserved for participants who can attend all three sessions on August 3, 10 and 17. Children’s Summer Meals: Volunteer to prepare!
The Hunger CoalitionThe Hunger Coalition and The Community Library provide free meals, books and enrichment activities to children throughout the Wood River Valley during summer. Join us in meal preparation; we're serving anywhere from 100 to 200 meals a day! We chef it up Mondays and Wednesday mornings, through August 24. Visit our website to reserve your volunteer time today! Time slots are 8:30am - 11am and 10am to 12:30pm, on both Mondays and Wednesdays.

Mountain Humane Hikin’ Buddies
At Hikin’ Buddies, you can take a shelter dog for a hike or hang out and socialize some of the smaller dogs. It is a great opportunity to meet some of Mountain Humane’s adoptable dogs as well as to learn more about the organization. All are welcome to join in throughout the summer, weather permitting. Meet at Adam’s Gulch trailhead, north of Ketchum, from 9:30am - 1:00pm on Wednesdays. No appointment is necessary; just bring your family and friends to have a good time with some dogs that would love to meet you!
