Sun Valley Playwright's Residency in partnership with The Argyros, Boise Contemporary Theater, Boise State University's Dept. of Theatre, Film, and Creative Writing, and The Community Library presents A FREE Reading of a New Play-in-Process HOROSCOPE Written & Directed by Pulitzer Finalist and two-time Obie Award Winner Rajiv Joseph Featuring Theatre Arts Majors from BSU Friday, October 25, 2024 at 7 PM The Argyros Tickets: FREE, reservations at www.sunvalleyplaywrights.org The evening begins with a conversation with Pulitzer Prize Finalist and two-time Obie Award winner Rajiv Joseph about his creative process, followed by a reading of his new play, HOROSCOPE, commissioned by Sun Valley Playwright's Residency. Twelve characters, twelve scenes, twelve months of the year: HOROSCOPE centers on a group of twenty-somethings searching for meaning beyond their current orbit. The reading features Theatre Arts majors from Boise State University. Ballet Idaho

Ballet Idaho is thrilled to be presenting an anthology of work at The Argyros this November. The program will be stylistically diverse and provide an intimate showcase for the artistry and athleticism of Ballet Idaho’s dancers. Congruence was jointly choreographed by Anne Mueller and Garrett Anderson, set to the music of Chicago-based composer, Marc Mellits. This piece is an exploration of creative synergy and collaboration between two choreographers, the talented performers, and Mellits’ nuanced musical phrasing. Terrance Marling’s Twice (Once) is set to the gorgeous music of contemporary composer Anna Clyne’s Within Her Arms. This is a subtle yet stirring piece that contemplates the afterlife, drawn from personal experiences of both composer and choreographer. Clyne wrote this piece of music honoring the passing of her mother, and Marling’s response drew upon his own near-death experience as a child. While the inspiration explores images of mortality and afterlife, this work is an uplifting and poignant abstraction of the human spirit. Danielle Rowe created For Pixie, inspired by the life and love of her own grandparents. The 8th Annual Homegrown Film Festival returns to the Argyros with the generous support of Bex Wilkinson and the Marshall Frankel Foundation. Homegrown is a celebration of the cinematic and athletic achievement of people who call this valley home. The festival showcases the work of our celebrities and professionals, while also giving a platform to local youth and up-and-comers – and it does so in 100% support of our local Sawtooth Avalanche Center. Homegrown has become much more than just a local’s ski and board film fest. It is a yearly gathering of our mountain community bringing in athletes and film makers from around the world showcasing mountain prowess, river flair, climbing, cycling, and fly fishing while including non-profit projects from mountain communities like our own. This year Homegrown has something old and lots of new to watch, reflect and inspire forward into the winter. Homegrown is our opportunity to come together, to cultivate a synergistic excitement about what we can, have, and will create. Wood River Orchestra Holiday Concert and Fundraiser

The Wood River Orchestra presents an afternoon of holiday cheer at the Argyros Performing Arts Center in Ketchum on December 15. The concert program will be packed with festive favorites, and the annual silent auction will offer an array of unique artistic pieces to be won. Doors open at 3pm for the silent auction in the lobby, and the concert will commence at 4pm. General admission is free as always, but seats must be reserved in advance with the Argyros in order to monitor numbers. Visit www.theargyros.org and keep an eye on the calendar to reserve when tickets go on sale. In addition to GA seating, a small number of cabaret tables right in front of the musicians are available. These tables seat four and cost $250 dollars - they must be booked as a whole table.

“Undertow”: An Idaho-Inspired Dance

The Community Library

Join The Community Library for a conversation with Dana Genshaft, a distinguished figure in the dance world, renowned for her multifaceted career as a dancer, choreographer, and educator. Genshaft was a Writer-in-Residence at the Hemingway House with The Community Library in June 2024, in partnership with Ballet Sun Valley (BSV). During her time in residency, she began developing a new piece for BSV: "Undertow," which was performed at the company's October performance at The Argyros with San Francisco Ballet Pre-Professional Dancers. Genshaft will be in conversation with the library's executive director, Jenny Emery Davidson, about her residency, how she begins to choreograph a new piece, and working with dancers to bring the vision to the stage. They'll also share a recording of the October performance of Undertow (9 minutes) during their conversation.
