Bald Mountain Tours
River Run LodgeJoin us for a complimentary Bald Mountain Tour, offered every Monday, Wednesday & Friday throughout the winter season. Tours meet at 9:30am in the Mountain View Room at River Run Lodge and are guided by one of the friendly members of our Mountain Guest Services team (yellow coats). They will guide you around Bald Mountain’s vast terrain, share where the best skiing and riding is and wow you with some amazing historical facts about Sun Valley. Tours are open for all ski levels.
Ski with a Ranger
Bald MountainJoin is for our Ski with a Ranger tours on Bald Mountain every Tuesday and Thursday this winter season. A Forest Service ranger meets interested guests at the Bald Mountain Map near Sun Valley’s Lookout Restaurant. The tour lasts a pleasant hour while skiing the mountain making three stops for the ranger to give his talk. Topics covered include a wealth of interesting information about local history, geography, geology, the Bald Mountain Stewardship program, expansion plans and local public lands.

Boulder Mountain Tour
Various LocationsThe 51st annual Boulder Mountain tour is February 3, 2024! The Boulder is sold out, waitlist available at www.bouldermountaintour.com/registration This is the premier cross-country race in the Western United States, the Tour is staged on the historic Harriman Trail located in the pristine Sawtooth National Forest Area. Race distances are 34 kilometers, the Full Boulder, and 15 kilometers, the Charley Course Half Boulder. The field features World Cup-caliber racers to cross-country enthusiasts who embrace the “Tour” aspect of the event. All ages are welcome. Racers are separated by waves, including Elite Men, and Elite Women, seeded by previous race times in the BMT or comparable marathon distance races. There are seven waves in the Full Boulder. This year, the in-person race field will be capped at 800 skiers for the Full Boulder, and 200 skiers in the Half. Snowshoe with a Ranger
Galena LodgeLearn about the history of the old Galena mining camp and about the local animals who leave their tracks in the snow during a free Snowshoe with a Ranger tour. The Sawtooth National Recreation Area is offering free snowshoe tours at 11 a.m. Thursdays through March 21 leaving from the porch of Galena lodge. The snowshoe trip lasts about two hours, covering 1.5 miles with stops along the way. Tour-goers will learn about the winter ecology and more during the tour A free one-day Blaine County Recreation district snowshoe pass will be provided. Snowshoes can be rented at Galena Lodge. Snowshoers are advised to dress warmly in layers, wear insulated waterproof boots, gloves, hats, sunglasses and sunscreen. Dogs and other pets are not allowed on these particular tours.
