Sun Valley Opera’s Signature Salon & Concert “Welcome” starring Ibidunni Ojikutu
Our Signature Salon “Welcome” on July 14 will star Ibidunni Ojikutu. Born in Bellingham, Washington, Ms. Ojikutu is a frequent performer around the Pacific Northwest and will be especially familiar to our Seattle Opera goers. Her program highlights her lilting soprano voice offering a combination of popular opera, gospel and musical theater. A special guest will join her for a couple songs, our newly graduated scholarship recipient, Raine Filbert. We are very proud of Raine for graduating from the University of Puget Sound and being accepted to the Manhattan School of Music for graduate school. The Garden Reception is paired with a tour of the on-site studio of artist Judith Kindler.

He has created a sound that rises from American roots and arrives today both fresh and familiar. In just over 40 years, Cray and his band have recorded 20 studio releases - 15 of which have been on the Billboard charts - and played bars, concert halls, festivals and arenas around the world. He’s also picked up multiple Grammy Awards, collaborated with some of the genre’s biggest icons, and been inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame.

IN A LANDSCAPE: Classical Music in the Wild
IN A LANDSCAPE: Classical Music in the Wild will make a highly anticipated return to the Wood River Valley this summer. Founded by classical pianist Hunter Noack, IN A LANDSCAPE: Classical Music in the Wild is an outdoor concert series where America’s most stunning landscapes replace the traditional concert hall. A 9-foot Steinway grand piano travels on a flatbed trailer to national parks, urban greenspaces, working ranches, farms and historical sites for classical music concerts that connect people with each landscape. To meet the acoustical challenges of performing in the wild, sound is transmitted to concertgoers via wireless headphones. Unconfined by seats and walls, audiences explore the landscape in this approachable and deeply moving classical music experience. The performance will take place alongside the Big Wood River just south of River Run parking lot, where concert goers will have a full, immersive nature and classical music experience meandering along the river or sitting on the banks watching nature unfold. $45 member / $55 nonmember / student $20 (18 & under)

The ArgyrosA musical visionary of incomparable gifts, Steve Hackman is a daring voice leading the charge among a new generation of classical musicians intent on redefining the genre. Equally adept in classical and popular forms, his breadth of musical fluency and technique is uncanny - he is at once a composer, conductor, producer, DJ, arranger, songwriter, singer, pianist, and even rapper. He uses those wide-ranging abilities to create ingenious hybrid compositions that blur the lines between high and pop art and challenge our very definitions thereof.
