Sun Valley Culinary Institute Fall Gathering Fundraiser
One of the Wood River Valley’s most highly anticipated fundraising events of the season, the Sun Valley Culinary Institute (SVCI) Fall Gathering celebrates the coming of Fall with a Western, cowboy-themed celebration to support the SVCI Professional Fund, which assists student education costs and career opportunities while sustaining the Wood River Valley’s restaurant and hospitality community. Enjoy a cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres, award-winning wines from exclusive vintners, and regionally sourced craft beers followed by inventive and delectable “cowboy” barbecue cuisine with Chef Rodrigo Herrera of Vintage Restaurant, Chef Taveesak “Dang” Chanthasuthisom of Dang Thai Cuisine, Chef Adam Fisher of Gretchen’s at the Sun Valley Resort, and others. The evening will include live entertainment from one of country music’s top emerging performers, Kurt Van Meter, and others. Jump on a mechanical bull ride, or try your hand at cornhole tossing and other fun activities. In addition, there will be a live and silent auction with culinary-inspired dinners, trips, and other unique items that rarely exist elsewhere, synonymous with the Sun Valley Culinary Institute. Hispanic Heritage Month Kickoff!
Hailey Town Center WestThe Hailey Public Library will host the 4th Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Kickoff on Friday, September 15, 4:00-7:00 PM at Town Center West. Celebrate our community’s rich Hispanic traditions with these family-friendly offerings: music by Quinta Generaćion; food from Taqueria Al Pastor (first 25 meals free!); face painting, tissue paper flowers, games and piñatas for the kids; and bilingual Lotería and prizes with callers Herbert Romero & friends. A bilingual StoryWalk© about a girl of Peruvian and American heritage will be installed at Town Center West, 9/14-10/12.

Devon Allman and Donavon Frankenreiter
The Argyros Performing Arts CenterRock and roll recording artists and globetrotting journeymen Devon Allman and Donavon Frankenreiter have their sights set on a world record with their new SEE IT ALL TOUR 2023: 50 shows in all 50 states in less than 50 days. SVMoA is bringing the tour to Ketchum for its one and only stop in Idaho. Donavon Frankenreiter has been travelling the globe for over three decades, first as a professional surfer who started jamming ukulele with Jack Johnson on the circuit. He now has over a dozen albums under his belt. Frankenreiter will be joined by Blues Music Award-winning singer, guitarist, songwriter and producer Devon Allman (son of rock legend Gregg Allman) and co-founder of supergroups Royal Southern Brotherhood and The Allman Betts Band. In their one and only Idaho performance, Allman and Frankenreiter will perform one set entirely together with a backing band, playing songs off their soon-to-be released collaborative EP titled “Rollers.” Be a part of music history and cheer on Team D&D. Cécile McLorin Salvant
The ArgyrosCécile McLorin Salvant is a composer, singer, and visual artist. The late Jessye Norman described Salvant as “a unique voice supported by an intelligence and full-fledged musicality, which light up every note she sings.” Salvant has developed a passion for storytelling and finding the connections between vaudeville, blues, theater, jazz, baroque, and folkloric music. Salvant is an eclectic curator, unearthing rarely recorded, forgotten songs with strong narratives, interesting power dynamics, unexpected twists, and humor. Salvant won the Thelonious Monk competition in 2010. She has received three consecutive Grammy Awards for Best Jazz Vocal Album for The Window, Dreams and Daggers, and For One To Love, and was nominated for the award in 2014 for her album WomanChild. In 2020, Salvant received the MacArthur fellowship and the Doris Duke Artist Award. Nonesuch Records released Ghost Song in March of 2022, and has since gone onto receive two Grammy Nominations as well as appearing on several year-end best lists for 2022

Named Rising Star Male Vocalist in Downbeat magazine, DeSare has lived up to this distinction by winning critical and popular acclaim for his concert performances throughout North America and abroad. From jazz clubs to Carnegie Hall to Las Vegas and headlining major symphony orchestras, DeSare has brought his fresh take on old school class around the globe. DeSare has four top ten Billboard jazz albums under his belt and has been featured on the CBS Early Show, NPR, A Prairie Home Companion, The Today Show, and his music has been posted by social media celebrity juggernaut, George Takei. DeSare has also collaborated with YouTube supergroup Postmodern Jukebox. He has been a featured guest artist with over 100 symphony orchestras with some highlights including the Cleveland Orchestra, The New York Pops, The San Francisco Symphony, The Houston Symphony, and The Chicago Symphony.
