Laura Cortese & The Dance Cards
Laura Cortese & the Dance Cards is nothing if not a culmination: the gathering of a select group of acoustic roots musicians at the zenith of their careers. Together, these women build something more than the sum of their already impressive parts. They create something wholly new–a fusion of the countless traditions and influences they each bring into the creative process. Best thought of as a collective rather than a fixed band, this ensemble has featured a rotating cast of unmatched talent over the years since its official founding in 2014 including the lineup for Sun Valley: Valerie Thompson (cello) and Isa Burke (of Lula Wiles, Aoife O'Donovan on guitar/fiddle). And of course, at its core lies Cortese herself–serving as both the gravitational center around which the group organizes and the creative engine that fuels the compositions that emerge from it. Performing live these artists produce music as rich and intricate as any symphony; as heartfelt and true as any country classic. New York Philharmonic String Quartet
The ArgyrosThe New York Philharmonic String Quartet comprises four Principal musicians from the Orchestra: Concertmaster, Frank Huang; Principal Second Violin, Qianqian Li; Principal Viola, Cynthia Phelps; and Principal Cello, Carter Brey. All four members are multiple prize winners, have appeared as concerto soloists with the Philharmonic and orchestras around the world, and have appeared frequently in the Philharmonic’s chamber music series at David Geffen Hall and Merkin Concert Hall.
