Based on real-life murders and trials, Chicago follows Roxie Hart, a wannabe vaudevillian star who murders her lover and is arrested, despite her attempts to convince her pushover husband, Amos, to lie for her. Chicago is a musical spectacular that is as addictive as gossip and as unforgettable as any trial of the century. Sun Valley Story Tour
The Story Tour is back for Trailing of the Sheep Join us on the Mountain Rides Blue Route from the Visitor Center in Ketchum for a one-hour free bus tour, guided by local volunteers, highlighting the area’s rich heritage. The bus leaves the Visitor Center at 10:15 am and returns after traveling to Warm Springs, Ketchum, Sun Valley and Elkhorn. (Space on the Mountain Rides bus is limited to 20 Story Tour passengers. Early sign-ups are encouraged. Roberta McKercher ParkThe 2023 Hailey Market is on Saturday mornings from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. The Hailey market will remain in it’s wonderful location- the front of Roberta McKercher Park (Main Street on the south end of town, between 3rd and 4th Avenue)! Enjoy some live music and ready to eat foods. Customers are encouraged to bring their own bags and market baskets. Turtle Island Quartet
The ArgyrosSince its inception in 1985, the Turtle Island Quartet has been a singular force in the creation of bold, new trends in chamber music for strings. Winner of the 2006 and 2008 Grammy Awards for Best Classical Crossover Album, TIQ fuses the classical quartet esthetic with contemporary American musical styles, and by devising a performance practice that honors both, the state of the art has inevitably been redefined. Cellist nonpareil Yo-Yo Ma has proclaimed TIQ to be “a unified voice that truly breaks new ground – authentic and passionate – a reflection of some of the most creative music-making today.” The Quartet’s birth was the result of violinist David Balakrishnan’s brainstorming explorations and compositional vision while completing his master’s degree program at Antioch University West. The journey has taken Turtle Island through forays into folk, bluegrass, swing, be-bop, funk, R&B, new age, rock, hip-hop, as well as music of Latin America and India…a repertoire consisting of hundreds of ingenious arrangements and originals. Young Latino Leaders Panel
The Community LibraryAs part of National Hispanic Heritage Month, and in partnership with ProjecToolSuccess and the Crisis Hotline, The Community Library will host the 3rd annual panel discussion celebrating and hearing from young Latino leaders in our community. The panel will feature five students from Wood River High School's Nosotros United club, whose mission is to promote the blending of cultures and ambitious dreams for all. Panelists will include Nosotros United co-presidents Ytzhel Pedraza and Vera Lucia Gonzales. The panel will be moderated by Herberto Romero of ProjecToolSuccess. The conversation will highlight the incredible work of these high school students, inviting them to share with us their visions for the Wood River Valley. The event will be livestreamed and recorded for later viewing.
