The Community LibraryAn intimate journey into the sketchbook world and how drawing can offer a moment of stillness and peace within an often chaotic world. This weekly drop-in workshop offers a welcoming and supportive space for both beginners and seasoned sketchers to draw together. Focus will be on nature journaling, but any type of drawing is welcome. Prompts will be offered as well as guidance. Each session we will jump down a “rabbit hole” and study in depth one plant or landscape element or learn about different brushes, paints, papers, and other art supplies. Leslie will also show nature journals kept by different artists for inspiration. For supplies bring a current sketchbook, if you are working in one, travel-size water color set and brush, or just a pencil or pen and paper. Leslie Rego has drawn in journals for years. She carries sketchbooks and paints with her while enjoying the national forest and will take time to draw and paint landscapes and flowers on her many hikes. Leslie wrote the "Sketchbook Hiking" article in The Weekly Sun for many years. She has artwork in private collections, The Sun Valley Lodge and around the world.

The ArgyrosYesterday and Today: The Interactive Beatles Experience is the nation’s most innovative and unique show utilizing the works of the Beatles. The band, anchored by brothers Billy, Matthew, and Ryan McGuigan perform as themselves and leave the song choices completely in the hands of the audience. Just prior to the show, audience members fill out a card with their name, their favorite Beatles song, and the reason why they chose that song. Two minutes before the show begins, a set list is created based upon the songs chosen by the audience. As an added treat, the reasons that the audience members chose those songs make up the narrative of the evening. Every show is different, every show is interactive, and every show proves that The Beatles music truly is the soundtrack to our lives.

Ultimate Wine Tasting Challenge hosted by Gary Hoffman
Sun Valley Culinary InstituteA one of a kind wine tasting experience is yours at the Culinary Institute Wednesday, April 12th. 8-10 different (varietal, based on grape used) wines will challenge wine lovers both ‘expert' and amateur to identify the grape used. Served in a brown bag (and silence!) there will be 4 excellent whites and 4 reds to check off against a printed list that includes tasting characteristics of each wine. Gary Hoffman is representing the Advisory Board in hosting this event as a benefit for the SVCI, "In 40 years of wine tastings, never have I seen this entertaining and educational approach taken". Wine tastings typically ask participants to rank wines based on their preferences among them. In this exciting version, “The Ultimate Wine Tasting Challenge”, a prize and a trophy will be awarded to the person most successfully identifying the grapes including Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and others…2 tiebreaker wines have been selected to be used as needed.
