Sun Valley, Idaho, remains a premier ski destination with a rich history and unique charm. The resort offers over 2,000 skiable acres, including slopes for all levels, new high-speed lifts, and a lively village scene with old-West vibes and European flair. Sun Valley offers an authentic ski experience with historic charm and natural beauty, contrasting with luxury-focused resorts. Founded in 1936, it features world-class slopes on Bald and Dollar Mountains and a laid-back vibe in Ketchum, where locally-owned businesses thrive. The resort preserves its rustic appeal with free shuttles, no ski-in/ski-out lodgings, and a connection to cultural icons like Ernest Hemingway, attracting skiers seeking tradition and uncrowded slopes.
The Seattle Ridge Lift Replacement project at Sun Valley will upgrade the existing four-person chairlift to a new high-speed, six-person detachable quad. This improvement aims to enhance capacity, speed, and comfort for skiers, while minimizing lift lines and elevating the overall mountain experience. Construction began in summer 2024, with the new lift expected to be operational for the 2024-2025 ski season.
