St. Thomas Episcopal Church

Reflections on the Nativity of Christ: A Service of Lessons, Carols and Poetry Offered by St. Thomas Episcopal Church and St. Thomas Playhouse 201 Sun Valley Road December 8, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. The Anglican tradition of offering a service of Lessons and Carols during the Christmas holiday season began in the late 19 th century in Cornwall, England and quickly became a widespread and beloved practice. Evensong, Oct 15, 5:30 p.m., commemorating Hiram Hisanori Kano

St. Thomas Episcopal Church

In the first quarter of the 20th century, many immigrants from Japan moved to Nebraska to work on the railroad and to work in agriculture. Among them was Hiram Hisanori Kano. He was ordained an Episcopal priest in 1936, and was detained in the Nebraska internment camp during World War II. Our evensong service this month will honor Fr. Kano, and will feature a biography of Fr. Kano, music written by Nebraskans, and one hymn written by a young Japanese person. Don't miss it! October 15, 5:30 p.m., at St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Reception with wine and light hors d'oeuvres follows.
