Gold Miners Beacon Hunt

Rotarun

Head to the hill on Sunday afternoon for a St. Paddy's-themed treasure hunt at the Rotarun beacon park! This is an interactive activity for parents and children to utilize avalanche safety tools to simulate a "treasure hunt". Each beacon hidden in the snow will have a hidden treat to uncover. The beacon park has explicit instructions on how to utilize the transceivers, though a staff member and volunteer will be on-site to provide guidance on transceiver use. The event is free and family friendly. The breakfast cookout begins at 12pm and the scavenger hunt begins at 1pm. Transceivers will be available to borrow from the Friends of Sawtooth Avalanche center between 1-3pm.

Full Moon Silent Disco

Welcome the March Worm Moon at Rotarun with some boot scootin' disco dancin' under the Friday Night Lights! The folks at Liberty Theater have partnered with Rotarun Ski Area to host the inaugural on-snow Full Moon Silent Disco. Sign up in advance to guarantee your dance time aligns with friends and family. You must acquire a lift ticket to participate in the silent disco. Tickets can be bought at the ski area or through the sign-up form located in the website event posting.

TEEN WORKSHOP: Snow Sport Video and Photography with Sofía Jaramillo & Ryan Bonilla

Middle and high school skiers and snowboarders are invited to join National Geographic photographer Sofía Jaramillo and artist and Burton NYC Ambassador Ryan Bonilla for a photography and video workshop focused on snow sports. Learn techniques for capturing the best photographs and footage of skiers and snowboarders in action. The workshop will begin with an hour of instruction in the Rotarun Lodge before heading out onto the hill to practice photography and video techniques. Open to all Middle and High School students, no video experience required. This is a 2-day workshop. DAY 1: Saturday, Mar 8, Rotarun, 12-3pm DAY 2: Sunday, Mar 9, Hailey Classroom 10am-12pm Lift tickets are provided by SVMoA. Discounted ski rentals are available through Sturtevants, Hailey. Introduction to Avalanches Presentation

Join the Friends of the Sawtooth Avalanche Center for a 90 minute presentation based on the Know Before You Go platform, introducing basic concepts about snow, avalanches, and traveling safely in and near avalanche terrain. Learn from the Friends of SAC instructor team of snow experts, mountain guides, and experienced avalanche educators. We invite everyone to join if you’re learning about avalanches for the first time or are a seasoned backcountry user ready for a yearly refresher. There is a $15 suggested donation, no preregistration required. In addition to the presentation, The Friends also put on Introduction to Avalanche Field Days.
