Dr. Kyle Davis, licensed clinical psychologist, specializing in behavioral sleep medicine, will give a FREE community presentation.  Spanish interpretation will be provided.     Dr. Davis will discuss: • How sleep patterns change as we age, with a focus on teens • What is the relationship between sleep and mental health? • How can we all get a better night’s sleep? • When should someone seek help?

National Honor Sociaety of Dance Induction Ceremony

Tweo dancers will be recognized and inducted as Dance Scholars in NHSDA: Leila Brickley & Clara Gvozdas (Juniors at WRHS). The induction ceremony will take place, Friday, February 9, 7:00 pm at the Community Campus, Hailey. Recognizing: Outstanding artistic merit, leadership and academic achievements in students studying dance at the High School level. The National Dance Honor Society is part of the National Dance Educators Organization and is an approved student program from the Secondary School’s Principals (NASSP).  The WRHS chapter is one of over 300 chapters across the United States that supports excellence in the dance arts, academic achievement and leadership. Our WRHS faculty advisor is Angie Telford with Hilarie Neely, Director FDC, administering the program with 23 members from Footlight Dance Centre participating in this chapter. Dancing is a year round artistic endeavor and passion for those working towards their NHSDA induction.  Dancers must maintain a solid GPA on top of the dance core work.  The requirements to be inducted and thus obtain the honor that can be recognized on transcripts are rigorous, so on the average it takes 2 or more years of study at the high school level before a dancer can be honored as a ...

Footlight Dance Company presents “WATER IS LIFE – Treat it Right”

Footlight Dance Company presents its annual school enrichment tour throughout Blaine County, providing shows to most Blaine County school students during a 2 week period. FREE show open to the public, Wednesday, January 31, 9:30 am. With the use of concert dance forms: ballet, modern, jazz, tap and hip hop this performance will inspire students to see winter sports in a new way – thru the dance arts.  “WATER IS LIFE – Treat it Right” – a collaboration of dance styles, bringing awareness to need to protect our water in Idaho, the U.S. and world. Introduction to Avalanches Presentation

Join the Friends of the Sawtooth Avalanche Center for a 2-hour presentation based on the Know Before You Go platform, introducing basic concepts about snow, avalanches, and traveling safely in and near avalanche terrain. Learn from the Friends of SAC instructor team of snow experts, mountain guides, and experienced avalanche educators. We invite everyone to join if you’re learning about avalanches for the first time or are a seasoned backcountry user ready for a yearly refresher. There is a $15 suggested donation, no preregistration required. You must attend the entire talk to register for the optional field session. Sun Valley Music Festival Music Institute and Footlight Dance are presenting our first annual joint holiday performance on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023 at the Community Campus Theater, 7:00 pm. Students from our two programs are working together to perform holiday classics with live musicians and dancers. Ellen Sanders and Rudy Kramer from the Music Institute have been working with their musicians, and Hilarie Neely and Mackenzie King from Footlight Dance have been working with their dancers to ring in the season together. Wood River Orchestra Fall Concert

Come and join the Wood River Orchestra for an evening of music by 19th-century Austrian composer Franz Schubert. Works include his renowned Unfinished Symphony, Rosamund Overture, and a smaller scale string quintet. The concert will be held at the Wood River High School Performing Arts Theater, Community Campus in Hailey, beginning at 4pm. Admission is free, donations are always welcome!

Tyler Norris, MDiv will facilitate, giving the panel a chance to share what struggles they face as teenagers today and what the adults in their lives can do to support them. Footlight Dance Centre, under the Artistic Direction of Hilarie Neely, presents “SNOW QUEEN", Friday, Saturday, MAY 5-6, 7:00 pm and Sunday, May 7, 2:00 pm, at the WRHS Performing Arts Theater at the Community Campus in Hailey. A classic fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen, written in 1844, originally written in seven chapters. The prologue introduces us to the Snow Queen in her ice palace where hobgoblins have made a magic mirror. Good and evil are a part of the story where respect, perseverance and loyalty finds two friends looking for each other after one is captured by the mirrors’ spell. Gerda sets off on a journey encountering different characters until she arrives at the snow palace to save her friend Kai. Disney was inspired to tell the story in their “Frozen” franchised series. The Snow Queen will be played by Hazel Ludwig, a senior at WRHS, the two friends Gerda & Kai by Ava Knowles, Senior, and Leo Star, Junior. Piper Kolb will play the Crow, Lilia Page the Princess lead, and Bridgette Silva the Rose Princess, all are Seniors. Georgia Geagan will carry the role of Nomad lead and Riley Jessen, Vagabond lead, both are also graduating this ...
