Evensong, Oct 15, 5:30 p.m., commemorating Hiram Hisanori Kano
St. Thomas Episcopal ChurchIn the first quarter of the 20th century, many immigrants from Japan moved to Nebraska to work on the railroad and to work in agriculture. Among them was Hiram Hisanori Kano. He was ordained an Episcopal priest in 1936, and was detained in the Nebraska internment camp during World War II. Our evensong service this month will honor Fr. Kano, and will feature a biography of Fr. Kano, music written by Nebraskans, and one hymn written by a young Japanese person. Don't miss it! October 15, 5:30 p.m., at St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Reception with wine and light hors d'oeuvres follows.
