Introduction to Avalanches Presentation

Join the Friends of the Sawtooth Avalanche Center for a 90 minute presentation based on the Know Before You Go platform, introducing basic concepts about snow, avalanches, and traveling safely in and near avalanche terrain. Learn from the Friends of SAC instructor team of snow experts, mountain guides, and experienced avalanche educators. We invite everyone to join if you’re learning about avalanches for the first time or are a seasoned backcountry user ready for a yearly refresher. No registration is needed for the presentation. This event will be in person but will also be live-streamed! You must attend the entire presentation to attend a field session. Introduction to Avalanches Field Day

Sawtooth NRA HQ & Visitor Center

Join the Friends of the Sawtooth Avalanche Center instructors for a field day covering avalanche rescue basics, snowpack layering, avalanche terrain identification, and basic backcountry travel. Please note- you need to have attended a Friends’ Introduction to Avalanches presentation prior to participating in the field day. The first presentation of this year is December 19th at the Community Library in Ketchum. There is a $50 suggested donation to the Friends of SAC to cover instructor costs. Donations can be made on www.sawtoothavalanche.com (click the donate button) or via Venmo @sawtooth-avalanche. On your donation, please note that this is in conjunction with a field day. Thank you!
