Hemmings Gallery is pleased to present RELATIVE MOTION, a group show that examines how artists capture a sense of movement in their work. Variations in brushwork—controlled versus gestural, for example— can create the perception of directional force and tempo. A horizon line can ground a viewer, as well as, the composition. A stark contrast in color may evoke a sense of drama and future possibility. Within each work, the artist has left ample room for interpretation of the unfolding scene. One thing is certain… the artist’s mind is never still for long.
