Watch as the world’s athletes race for the top spot in the Downhill, Super-G, Giant Slalom and Slalom at the first-ever Stifel Sun Valley Finals.
Downhill ski racing is a speed event in alpine skiing that involves racing down a predetermined slope with minimal turns and maximum speeds to reach the finish line. It’s considered the simplest and most impressive speed discipline in alpine skiing, and has been part of the Olympic program since 1948.

Super-G, or super giant slalom, is an alpine skiing discipline that combines elements of slalom and downhill skiing. It’s considered a speed event, alongside downhill, with racers reaching exhilarating speeds but on a course that demands more technical maneuvering than a straight downhill run.
Giant slalom (GS) skiing is a technical event in alpine racing, alongside slalom. Compared to high-speed Super-G and downhill, GS courses require more turns and maneuvers at moderate speeds. Racers navigate a longer course with wider gate spacing than slalom, demanding precise technique and good speed control. Competitions usually involve two timed runs, with the fastest combined time winning. GS showcases skiers’ technical abilities and agility on a course that blends speed and precision.
Slalom skiing is the most technical alpine discipline. Racers zip down a steep course, weaving between closely spaced gates at impressive speeds. The slalom course is the shortest, but packed with poles (55-75 for men, 40-60 for women) demanding quick turns and agility. Success hinges on a perfect mix of power, balance, and precise edging control through rapid-fire turns. It’s a crowd favorite for its fast pace and technical mastery on display.
World Cup races take place on the International trail, finishing in the Warm Springs Base Area of Bald Mountain. Spectators can watch the races from the Lower Greyhawk Base Viewing Area.
The Warm Springs parking lot will be closed during the races. Attendees can catch the action a few ways:
